Richmond Cops Rob Cars

Same here. Whether or not I'd left it unlocked.

I never leave anything in the car (or use it much at all), but still, I'd be pissed off.

I love how Detective Boy just defends it like a mother taking things off a child for safe keeping, regardless of the fact that no one asked the police to take it upon themselves to be our fucking parents, out to save us from our own mistakes. It's bad enough being constantly patronised and monitored by them, it's quite another for them to be lifting shit out of you car for your own benefit.

It isn't actually ... the definition of the intent to permanently deprive may be there (it involves dealing with something regardless of the rights of the owner and a temporary taking may well be sufficient). Theft requires a number of aspects:

1. Dishonest
2. Appropriation (taking)
3. of Property
4. Belonging to another
5. With intent to permanently deprive the other of it

Dishonesty is the one part which is totally missing in these situations.

exactly how you can prove 5 when the police officer leaves a note stating where the property has been removed to ...

as per usual in typical urban style the point has been missed

if you don't want people fiddling in your car lock it and don't display valuables ...

That's what teachers at school would say when they confiscated things. Get it back at the end of the day.

Having my stuff taking from my car and having to go out of my way to get it back is confiscation. Dress it up how you like db, but it's a massive inconvenience and takes the piss.

lock your sodding car then !

Lock your car? yeah, lock your front door too while youre at it. Otherwise you should pretty much expect people to wander off the street into your home.

Oh and windows? well why on earth would you leave them open? you bunch of idiots.

how about using evidence to track and locate criminals from the numerous cases they already have on file and submitting this evidence to the cps to ensure the weight of it is such that is scores a conviction.
Not fucking generalist blather, fuckwit. Concrete examples of how they should spend the ten minutes or so it takes them to prevent a crime in actually solving some.

Come on you fucking gobshite. Ten minutes to solve a crime that has happened - you've got an unlocked car and a victim who says their laptop has gone. What are you going to do with that ten minutes to solve it ...

I'd be mightily unimpressed by someone removing things from my car, whether they were a copper or anyone else...

Would you be equally unimpressed with yourself for not locking the door in the first place?

It's all very well but if I need what I have in the car NOW then having to collect it from a police station in an hour isn't much use. Though I'll grant having it properly nicked is even less use.

Checking doors are secure used to be an obligatory part of night duty foot patrol until the early 80s (by which time it usually, but not always, was restricted to shop and business premises). It was so much part of the routine, and so fucking tedious, it was referred to as spending the night shaking hands with door handles.

You lot that are whinging deserve to have your fucking stuff nicked ... and deserve to be absolutely fucked off it you try and report it afterwards or claim off the insurance.

Can't be bothered taking care of your stuff? Fine. Just don't expect anyone else to be bothered when it goes missing.

If you don't want the police on patrol to look after your stuff when it is left unattended why not just put a big notice in the window?

I love how revol68 just attacks it automatically, regardless of the fact that (as I have already posted), the prevention of crime IS and always has been part of the duty of the police. i.e. You HAVE asked the police to prevent crime - you have told them it is their primary duty, you have a common law offence (malfeasance in public office) which you would convict them of if they did NOT take all reasonable steps to prevent a crime.

You really are just a bunch of fucking idiots.

It hasn't been missed - I pointed it out fucking ages ago.

It's just that in typical Urban style (a) anything the police do is shit and fuckwitted and wrong; (b) ACAB and (c) anything I post is ignored other than insofar as it can be misrepresented and use to "prove" that I am a cunt.

For those who'd have the hump about this. What say, if rather than the Police taking the valuable items, into protective custody. They, for argument sake, had some kind of universal lock, that you'd have to contact them to have removed. So, copper sees insecure car with valuable items inside. Leaves items alone. Applies unilock and leaves a helpful note explaining why and how to get removed.

Would that piss you off equally? Because the alternative I suppose is for them to wander on by and not give a monkies.

This is what the fuckwits are arguing they want ... and guess who'd be gobbing off the loudest if they inadvertently forgot to lock the fucking car one night and their stuff got nicked after a police patrol saw it there, shrugged and just walked on by ...

so because we don't want authoritarian prannets wandering around telling us off like naughty school children insinuating themselves into situations they have no decent or reasonable business being in order to nanny people who have not broken any law and wasting valuable time and resources which could be directed at you know hard things like solving real crime not made up potential crime but it looks good on figures which we pay for we are idiots are we...

you want to remember who pays the bill for the bill son...

you are a prime example of everything which is wrong with the police and thank fuck for all concerned that you no longer have any active role in it...

as it goes you are literally the worst advert for modern policing going...

hell if all cops were actually like you then there'd be regular shooting of police in all areas of the UK like daily and it'd be entirely deserved you sanctimonious muppet..

Well, I'd just like to know what peple think an officer who sees an insecure car with valuables on display should do. Assuming it's not possible to ID the owner in the immediate vercinity.

no it absolutely is not how dare you soap box and misrepresent other peoples opinions to rile yourself up in mock ire because posters aren't cow towing your brand of authoritarian nannying...

who the fuck are you i mean really... grow the fuck up... if you don't like the public opinion so much will you be returning the pension which we've all subsidised or are you a hypocrite in this regard too...

lock the car and move on like most members of the public would do...

which is helpful to the owner and doesn't inconvenience them unlike removing their property and then making them lump around trying find out where their shit is and undoubtedly having to provide some kind of proof of ownership etc to get it back...

garf's being rather liberal this evening :(

it was the most police comment wasn't it!! :D ;)

I've met some decent coppers I've also known some dyed in the wool lads who are entirely removed from the real world and occupy what i call noddy land there's how the world really works and the police trained blinkered view of how the world works which is entirely based on training manuals and dictates from the senior management.

Oddly the noddy coppers all seem to have their careers stall and are eventually pensioned off and seem quite bitter about the whole experince and seem to have issues in civvy life because people don't respect their authority...

remind you of anyone ....
