I think it's called an allegory. It's quite openly an opinion piece, he's not trying to quote authorities here. Is it any worse than Orwell writing Animal Farm?

I'm not complaining about the allegorical device (although I do think it's somewhat lame and certainly not comparable with animal farm!). I'm complaining about the analysis that is behind it. On the other hand, as long as it annoys the fundies, I don't really mind what he says.
