Revolutionary Communist Group

Some RCG had a stall near my house today while I was pursuing my own brand of politics. Very nice people and their paper is as informative as anyone elses.

that's truly feeble...so both states have had referenda re: pres term = they're the same...brilliant analysis

The point was that Chavez and Uribe followed the same procedure to enable them to extend their term and whatever the RCG paper is called (can't reference that post whilst writing this one) had articles saying how wonderful it was in one case and how terrible it was in another.

That is because they support one and oppose the other. Just like people argue against the BNP appearing on Question Time but would be horrified if John Pilger (or similar) were banned. Equally one can be in favour of referendums in principle but not on a specific issue - so the EU Constitution may be OK but anti-abortion might not.

Remember going to meeting in Dalston about Cuba with some Turkish Communist group called TIKB I think. Hall was packed(few thousand) and taken very seriously: Cuban Young Communists were speaking. (Went to get some Tea and was hushed).

Also they organised a speaking tour of central London on the life of Marx done by some camp arty bloke. Really well done, especially getting Cuban Young Communists to shout SOHO as some Hunting call the place was named after and the part enactment of Marx's pub crawls.

Their anti drugs policy is a bit dubious as well, after hearing them all agree that drugs are evil and getting really dirty looks for arguing that Cuba should legalise cannabis for medical problems getting dirty looks form all asundry went down stairs to find two of there members getting completely wasted on skunk. Went to one of their Rock Against The Blockade Socials in Islington, if one of their members and supporters didn't go into the toilets for a line of Coke then I'm a giddy aunt.

Must admit that all their women are attracitve.
Think eventually got completely shunned by them for not supporting the right Turkish Communist group.

The whole ritual and proceedure of meetings reminds me of SWP in early eighties and from what I've been told late seventies.

One they were a Group not a "Party" (another difference with most of the rest of the left) and a party would contain more from less-priveleged positions and different social millieus. Secondly, The argument is used to explain the material basis for the gap between what the Left say and how they work in practice - it doesn't stop them breaking from the priveledged position and hopefully that will happen.

meaningless fucking gibberish

I was trying to use the same terms you did to say that the failure of revolution doesn't lie with the radical forces attempting to build revolution abroad but with the century of failure here in Britain. None of these things are easy and nothing is perfect and so we should concentrate on making similar advances here regardless of our position or stratra.

So no fixed principles, then
