Tas, Turkish place, theres a few of them around Borough Market/South Bank area. Great Turkish food at very reasonable prices.
this is one of my favourite restaurants in london. it's perfect if you are veggie.
:)

edit to add: le mercury in angel is absolutely lovely too. good price (approx. £20 per head) and absolutely delicious food. it's french.

Hakkasan, just off Tottenham Court road, top place, took the wife, came to about £150 including wine etc, great food and amazing service.

Gordon Ramsay's in Chelsea is the best restaurant I've ever eaten in, bar none. But 140 quid for two. Mine and Miss T's fifth anniversary. :)

I like the Indian Veg Bhelpoori House: 92-93 Chapel Market, Islington all you can eat buffet for under £3 a head and nice beer and other drinks.

Took the wife to the Ivy last month.

Pretty good food, and service, but not out of this world. i don't think i'd go again though it wasn't actually that expensive.
good for celeb spotting if that's your thing i suppose

I totally agree with your first 2 but whats the score with veggies on the french jobbie?

oh also, i went to Thai Square in Angel recently and if you like thai food it was fucking excellent.
As we were having coffee they put on a show out in the street with fire breathers and all that mad shit. top night :D

347-349 Upper Street, Islington.
Come right out of station at Angel and just carry on for 5 minutes or so.
Best thai food i've ever had in all honesty.

ta!! might check it out :)

If anyones really short of cash I'd recommend Goddard's Pie and Mash shop in Greenwich, cheap and tastes great.

Mandola - westbourne grove, superb and BYO. The Pizza place in elephant the one next door to the cheap chinese/thai (not in the shopping centre) is superb.

Wapping Project....errr...in Wapping at the old Pump House opposite The Prospect of Whitby, which is always good for a pre-meal tipple or 5 next to the river.

Food is very good, the wine list is even better and the setting is superb - esp if you get a table next to one of the old pumps!

Cafe Pacfico, Mexican in Covent Garden. About £80 for two with a lots of cocktails. Popular and dosen't take bookings, which can be a pain.

Bodeans. BBQ on Poland Street. Good if you like gigantic slabs of meat. £40 for 2.

Belgos/Beirodrome. 5 of them around London. Beirodrome is excellent if you like mussles & chips with mayo (which I do), Belgos do a much bigger menu. £30 for two, although you can spend far more if you want to try lots of the amazing range of beers.

Satu near Liverpool St.

Was there last night -- avocado & asparagus tempura to start (lovely). Silken tofu with peashoots & coriander for me; yellow curry with aubergine & sweet potato for the Mrs.

£35 including bottle of wine & tip.

Lovely. :)

Haven't been for a couple of years but I always liked Pacifico.
