Restaurant recommendation needed

if they want to splash out, then the Almeida restaurant in Angel (opposite the theatre) and Fredericks in Angel (near the antique market) are very nice - but expect to pay about £70 a head at least, more if you like the odd drink :o

They might bump into Jerry and Kramer.

How about Wild Honey - it's pricey-ish but they do an excellent set menu. Lovely dining room, wood panelled, feels very English. Sense of occasion without being too formal.

One of the best things about their set menu is that they price dishes individually, so if you want to have a starter and a main from the set, and then have pudding from the main menu, that's fine. Things do get a lot pricier once you stray from the set though.

I've been there a few times and it's always been excellent.

The Barbican is stunning

(OK I know it's not to everyone's tastes :) )

My best friend actually lives in the Barbican. Inside the towers it's like a 1960s council block. Her flat's quite nice though. Should be, for that price.

Thirded. Went there for my birthday last year and it was a really lovely experience.

You might also consider Racine in Knightsbridge or Galvin Bistrot de Luxe in Baker Street. I've also heard great things about The Harwood Arms in Fulham if they want the British gastropub experience. Another restaurant which has come highly recommended but haven't visited personally is L'Autre Pied in Marylebone.

Savoir Faire in New Oxford Street?

They do reasonably priced, really good French cuisine.

The staff are always lovely, they do a set menu and an a la carte. Shouldn't have a problem seating 10.

(This is one of my favourite restaurants in London. Can you tell? :hmm:)
