Resident Evil 4: Wii

Once you get better gun's and upgrade your existing guns via merchants, then headshots will do some serious damage.

Aye, am about four hours in now - I've rescued the daughter and just had the big shoot out in the barn with Lewis - and now have a tasty arsenal of weaponry.

This has got to be one of the best games I've played in recent times - I'm playing this over Bioshock atm. I think the two handed controls work fantastically, and blowing the fuck out of the gangs of zombies (are they even zombies?) is great fun.

Your moving along quite quick then, I played for a good four hours today and just finished chapter 4.

Will have a good go at Chapter 5 tomorrow.

It's a great game, and to think it's what, 3/4 years old. Wii control's just work great for these sort of games. I just hope there continue's to be a market for 'hardcore' games on the wii.

I'm kinda dissapointed that headshots don't do more. I have only been using the handgun up until recently (still in the village about an hour and a half in), but I had though headshots would make a difference - whether you pop someone in the head or body it still seems to take about the same number of bullets. Just got a machine gun, which fires off rounds quick enough but isn't very powerful.

Aye, the TMP is pretty rubbish. I made the mistake of buying it, now I just sell all the ammo I pick up for it and use it to upgrade my other weapons. Saving up to buy/upgrade unlockables like the chicago typewriter (tommy gun with unlimited ammo) and the handcannon (magnum with maximum firepower of 99...!) is damned expensive.

I've completed the game and have restarted it with all of my upgraded weapons from the previous one intact - it's great starting with an upgraded blacktail with a firepower of 4.6 and a shotgun that holds 100 rounds :D Bad guys that would take five or six headshots to drop can now be done in two :)

The extras you get when you complete the main game first time are pretty good games in themselves as well. Seperate Ways is a great little parallel game, and mercanaries is an absolutely ball-quiveringly intense experience.

I would go as far as saying that the TMP is probably the best weapon in the game once fully upgraded. 200 rounds at was it 1.4 (?), the stabiliser and the speed upgrade makes it one death dealing gun.

Yup, once it's fully upgraded it's actually a pretty good weapon (I think when you play as Ada in one of the minigames you get a TMP that's been beefed up quite a bit and then it's a pretty good gun), but I still find that nailing things with a blacktail or the striker is a much better option.

Played for another hefty few hours today, and still not finished it. I think i suck at it, but hey i have a huge catchup to do in these type of games as my last console was a SNES.

Anyway, Those Replicator thing's were pissing me off big time, at one point i had about 2 bullet's left in my eintire arsenal of weapons.

Just beat the commando type guy up in the ruins of the island, needed a rest after that. Might pick it back up and do an all-nighter tonight.

You really need to save up your rifle bullets for dem bastards. Equip the infra-red scope, shoot-out the four plagas on the front (they should show up as red blobs), switch to shotgun and take out a leg or two, switch back to the rifle and take out the plagas on the back.

Haha, yes it wasn't until the final chapter when i realised i had to manually attach the scopes to the weapons. Do'h.

All thing's considered I did pretty well. just finished the game now. Took me 29 hours! :(

Will probably delete the memory and start again now I have a better idea of what i'm doing. First Chapter I really didn't have a clue.

Although Quite temped to start doing those Ada mission's now.

If you do seperate ways and then assignment ada, you'll get a bunch of new stuff available to you when you restart the main game, including the chicago typewriter  Don't delete the save file as you'll retain your weapons and upgrades for when you restart. Just don't buy the matilda, it's rubbish.

and make the game as complete walkover. ;)

Oh yeah that reminds me...have a copy of Resi4 for the GC to give away...will see if I can find it tonight and post up a thread in the recycle forum.

Has anyone managed to get five stars in mercenaries yet?! I'm getting scores of 50-60,000 and the best I get is four :(

/me wants that handcannon

bump cos this is probably the best thread for it...

so pickster - why is the blacktail better than the red6?

aaaannnnddd.... what do you prefer - striker or riot gun? Might just be me but I'm actually leaning towards the riot gun I think.... maybe just cos I haven't used it for half the game....

RE has been shit since the second one for the ps ... slow lumbering zombies annoying cut sequences... yadda yadda yadda... why the hell would you expect this to be any different...

I've got the pistol, the rifle, the shotgun and the tmp. Which should I sell?

why do you want to sell them? they're all useful in their own way... how far through are you? do you want me to give spoilers? or not?

No spoilers please! Just I'm running out of inventory space, and already have the attaché case. I'm guessing I'll turn into a zombie soon or something. Do I get more space later?

can't tell you. No spoilers.

Space is always at a premium but each gun is suited to a particular situation. You need the shotgun for when a swarm of villagers attack. The handgun is your basic staple gun when you're saving ammo, the rifle is for picking off people at distance etc etc.

If you had to get rid of one then I guess it's the TMP. But personally I love it so I wouldn't get rid of any of them.

Can't remember now... the blacktails max firepower is 5.6 IIRC, but you get a colossal magazine and a very high firing rate.

I didn't bother with the riot gun and waited for the striker - if you can afford it, get the top upgrade, it'll be worth it :)

Chicago typewriter still kicks utter arse, although it makes the game impossibly easy.

yeah, I'm just going through it all again. Weighing up selling all my other guns and buying the typewriter... I dunno, I think I prefer using my red9, and my maxed tmp. Selling those to get the typewriter would make the game a bit of a procession. I might just max up other guns rather than ruining the game.... or maybe not.

I only just realised that you can shoot all the crows to get extra money and ammo - they carry a surprising amount for an animal with no pockets. :)
