removing adware

So having dissed my advice you now want more of it?

If you want to learn something just do what you told the OP to do. Or read about Lavasoft at the sites I mentioned.

no, check your ego mate, I dont want your advice I want you to source a credible link to prove it, and not from bleepingcomputers.com ,

I've been working in the trade for a long time now , and never in a professional environment have I been guided towards bleepingcomputers, nor would ever suggest it.

I fear I'm not the one who needs to learn

i work fixing lenovo laptops day in and day out, not heard of this, yet....

but cheers for the heads up , could be useful :)

but saying that, the devices I work on are corporate beasts and we put our own image on top

right, what now.....

malwarebytes has come up with a big list of stuff, at least a dozen are "shopper pro", the thing I want to remove.....

Google "how to remove (program)".

It will usually tell you how to remove it. Often going into manage programs via control panel works. Obviously be a bit careful what you do. As a last resort you sometimes have to go into the registry, be very very careful doing this as you can completely fuck your computer up if you delete the wrong file.

I wouldn't run another dodgy program to get rid of a dodgy program, I just think that's asking for trouble.

Obviously also use a bit of nous following manual removal instructions, if it says "install megavirus 3" you probably don't want to do that.

Let Malwarebytes dispose of them all.
Chances are you'll have to do some manual hacking of default search engines etc.

Then search for stuff like "new car" ...

it seems to have worked, it is no longer present on the list of "remove programs" found via control panel and there seems to be (at the moment) no more pop ups!

yay!

Just one more for you tech heads. I run CCleaner quite regularly but have never cleaned the registry with it until now. CC found lots of stuff that needed cleaning, & asked at that point whether I wanted to backup the reg. I closed it down as it scared me & came here :D

Before I do this, say if my laptop goes tits up, how do I get to that backup point to restore order? And do I need to be in safe mode when using CC to clean the reg?

generally, the registry stuff that CC identifies is crud left behind by old versions of programs.

Yes to backing up the registry - don't be scared.

This is how you restore if need be (I've never needed to)

And no, you don't need to be in safe mode.
