Remote control cable for my speakers is broken

R.I.P.
My PC came with a FPS1600 Speaker Set. The remote control on/off switch has broken, now I have no sound which is pissing me off.

Can I buy a "generic" switch for my speaker? like you can buy a scart lead, for example, without having to go through the manufacturer?

I did take off the outer casing of the switch to look for obvious looseness, couldn't see any but it's defiately to do with the cable for the switch as it was iintermittent before it went completely, moving the cable would sort it.

I'm going to look at the Maplin site but I don't know exactly what to search for...........

obvious pin missing or bent

maplin not have rREMOTE SOUND SWICH

if not at swich end then look at other end outer cover off, have you got a 12V Soldering Iron if not i be cheaper just to but swich. about 15 quid for Iron

have looked at overclockers for new set up

I've got an Altec Lansing set, and the switch for that is a custom jobbie - to replace it, you'd have to get one from the manufacturer or maybe a third party clone. I'd imagine Creative are the same. I didn't have any luck finding one for yours, so try contacting Creative.

TBH it might be cheaper to buy a replacement set, unless you can find an electronics geek to replace the wire. It's shite how these things work out.
