Most annoying (literally) :

"Reeeewind!!"

I love reggae of nearly all types, but rewinds piss me off :(

Don't forget the selecta bit. It's got to have a selecta to rewind it :D

Rop-o-pom pom!

e.g. "Rop-o-pom pom! Rude bwoy nuh powder mon!"

"Rop-o-pom pom! Rude bwoy nuh like Chinamon!"

"Rop-o-pom pom! No bwoy badda dan Yellowman"

etc.

And

'ear weh me say / y'ear? / 'ear me now!

e.g. "'ear weh me say! We ago kill a soundbwoy today!"

Yeah, seem to have gone through a phase more recently when I couldn't get away from fuckin rewind-happy selectas at reggae sessions ... OK I exaggerate, at one or two festivals, anyway.

Loving these other cliches :p :D

I know I face ridicule for asking this but what exactly is a soundboy. And why does he get murderated all the time?

You know, the sound engineers that you get at gigs I would imagine. Or most likely the DJ, as he is the one playing the 'sound'.

'killing the soundboy' is just a metaphor. say for example theres an event with 2 dj's competing against eachother. it means one DJ/performer/tune is so good that it 'kills' the other soundboy. no actual murderation occurs.

The fire and brimstone, babylon etc lyrics are my favourites, only really check conscious tunes.

80's - Come follow me, lawd 'ave mercy. Favourite - Shabba!

Last couple of years "You dun know" has been used to death.

Sadly there'll be soundboy killing lyrics for as long as boys have testosterone. At least the financial penalties incurred due to homophobic protest has reduced the amount of battybwoy lyrics.

Construct a dub song title by taking any word, be it noun, adjective or verb, and then simply putting "dub" after it.
