Redundancy - insolvent small firms

Was this actually helpful to anyone? I must admit, I could only think of me and Eastender who might need it, but surely others would?

This is one of those things that BERR keep really, really quiet about. When my last company tanked and we had to make our PA/sec redundant half her wedge came from this fund...

I was gobsmacked to hear of it tbh!! I thought if our company goes tits up, I'd be fucked, but now I'd be able to get 2 months pay, which is a massive relief!

ditto - I thought all employment related monies came from the company, so no company = no money. I certainly don't remember anyone mentioning this the last time I signed on at the job centre after being made redundant....

So would they pay the full statutory redundancy pay, or are there strings attached?

Says here up to 8 weeks http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/RedundancyAndLeavingYourJob/DG_10026695 and 'All payments are subject to a maximum of £330 for a week's wage', so £1430 per month then

Not as much as I'm currently paid, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
