Recydrate The West

It was great fun though, especially my missus doing the can can to the police on Sunday.
i saw people doing the can can on stage with bad manners, but i did not notice the police on the bill. i must have been in the bar when they were on... i certainly was not up in the gabba room in the main house (i lasted all of two minutes)

highlight of the weekend.. for me... inner terrstrials friday night.

Babyhead, Smerins Anti Social Club and dead silence also put on storming sets.

I had such a great time :D

The weather was good, and the general atmosphere was amazing. My birthday was on the friday, so I was loving it :)

Dead Silence were my highlight I think; the friendly moshpit at the end was brilliant

Dr Meaker and the Wurzels were my highlights, though getting some exceedingly dodgy rockets on saturday night fucked me over royally for a good few hours between 3 and 11 on sunday morning...

gener8r was good sat night, though it closed early due to some kid almost killing himself by taking 14 pills and having a heart attack on the dance floor. being told this at 3am sunday morning by one of the security guards in the middle of one of the worst trips of my life didnt help unfortunately. the guy went into a coma and they didn't think he was going to make it but thankfully he pulled through.

generally a very very messy weekend, didn't expect it to be quite so squat party like, but still had a fucking wicked time, despite the dodgy few hours sunday morning.

Fair comment, but this is the first year Recydrate has come onto our 'potential festivals' radar (date was all wrong before). £45= seems to us relatively cheap, even now that only 1 of us is working ...

Well cheaper than End of the Road anyway, the same weekend, which we're sacking in favour of this! Great location as well ... ;)

I suspect ALL festival organisers' costs (relating to licensing conditions and so on yada yada) are going up this year ... :(

That is shocking. I'm surprised you weren't burnt in a giant wicker apple.

:mad::p
I know I know! :o :D

It was in order to save money, I'm afraid! But I had plenty of scrumpy and spiced cider too.

Glad to see it looks like it's going ahead again this year. :)

From the Recydrate facebook group:

"Yes that’s right the team who brought you “The Worlds Best Cider Fest” Now present BOOMTOWN FAIR.

Watch this space for future updates of this years festival ;-)"

I missed this post on here, but I caught up with this major overhaul of 'Recydrate' just recently ....

Looks like its been renamed (for license reasons maybe? ;) ) and relocated back to somewhere near Bristol, as BoomTown Fair 2009.

EFestivals page on BoomTown here

BoomTown's own website recently updated/added to

It looks absolutely excellent, lineup and everything, but I'm really, really pissed off about the change of date, the fest has been moved back from September to the weekend of Friday 7th to Sunday 9th August, same bloody weekend as (the even more excellent) Endorse It In Dorset, already a commitment for us.

Fackin festival clashes -- this a particularly bad one :hmm:
I predict that a lot of people will have dilemmas over this ... let's say they'll both attract a similar/overlapping core audience ;)

That's from efestivals. Who do they think they are? MK Dons or something?

That confused me as well, because the BoomTown incarnation is definitely new for this time. They must just mean there were two Recydrate The West fests previously ...but yeah does read a bit weird agreed.

In any case, I envy those who can make it, cos it looks good. Hope they've secured a nice site.

So they're talking shite then.

Possibly :D , but perhaps they're trying to stress the continuity -- same organisers, same festival effectively -- even though the name has changed. My bet is that they've changed the name for license related reasons, remember they couldn't hold it near Bristol last year (too many restrictions imposed) and they had to move it to Wales. I should think the name change was to enable it to return to Bristol or nearby.

My bet is that it will be a good fest anyway, I'm really sorry to be missing it.

But they've done the same thing!

Anyway, lets leave it there!

I was up for Recydrate but not sure I can do this new one on different dates. I spose it remains possible, but it's unlikely. Looks good too.
