Records With Kids On That Aren't Shit

Another vote for Another Brick.

(It has sentimental value for me. Our school had a brilliant music teacher. 50% of the kids at the school learnt an instrument. There were two concerts every year. The winter one was traditional - classical, opera that kind of thing. The summer was contemporary. One year we did the Pink Floyd tune as the main piece. I was one of the mob doing rhythm guitar on acoustic, we had the choir, and to top it all off, there was this kid in sixth form who was a genius on the electric and did the whole solo, perfectly. It was epic. Six months ago, after some 30 years teaching music, still at 'our' school, our music teacher Mr Powell was awarded an MBE for services to teaching.)

the music teacher at our school was a total penis.

by coincidence I sold an original Black Sabbath album i stole off him for on Ebay this very week.

:)

i saw the film literally 50+ times when I was an obsessive, addled teen. It's not a good movie, but when you're 14 and looking for something you can pretend is profound, it kinda works :D

J Dilla - Wild

Contains sample of some kid singing "come on feel the noise"

I thing it is at the very least, not shit

Sisters of Mercy: Cry Little Sister

Do you mean the one from Lost Boys?

From wiki:

The theme song, "Cry Little Sister", was originally recorded by Gerard McMahon (under his pseudonym of Gerard McMann) for the soundtrack, and later re-released on his self-titled album "G Tom Mac" in 2000. In the sequel of the film the theme song "Cry Little Sister" was covered by a Seattle based rock band "Aiden".[3] A re-make of the song was done by Zug Izland. Many of the lyrics were changed, including some apparent mondegreens. Zug Izland's song is called "Cry" and is featured on their album "Cracked Tiles."

No Sisters.

That was me and Brazil - though Brazil is still a great movie

How are we defining kids? The Small Faces were teenagers when they recorded their first two albums, for example.

you should talk to my friend andy cos that's what he reckoned too.

woah!! that eminds me. there IS someone who has put out a CD of mad techno versions of lots of old anarcho punk tracks. There's aven a sort of gabba version of The Apostles 'Mob Violence'

saw it reviewed on some website and had been meaning to drop the guy a line to score a copy.

I heard 'walls' played at a techno club once. that was pretty

Billy Bragg - Waiting for the great leap forwards only towards the end on the single release , the kids were on totp but never seen a video of that on youtube most are live versions without the kids ...

This seems to be the only one on the tube - I love it...

(I said)Another Brick in the Wall - Pink Floyd

Check the lyrics from another brick:

...takes me right back to infants, being forced to eat whole plum tomatoes from out of a can, or not be allowed to leave the table - or get dessert! Pink Floyd dealing with the issues that matter

*I know were not meant to be doing shit ones, but after this post you have to give this one a listen:

"all you gotta do is be yourself!"
..i must admit by the end i was genuinely enjoying this!

Yeah, I mean, I loved it when I was at school too, but it is shit!

Hell yeah, how did we forget that.

think the B-side of The Mob 'no doves' has the sound of a baby on it.

And there's a song on Poison Girls 'Hex' 12" which has Vi's daughter (gemma frm Rubella ballet IIRC) on it.

actually, fatal microbes were all about 14 when they did their single so that too.

come to think of it, first five records i did i was 14-15 so i spose i can include myself in this thread :)

kids on punk records generally sounded sinister.

oh, apart from The Skids 'circus games' which i think has kids on it too, but , like the song itsself, they just sound rather crap.

Can't believe no one's mentioned "Grocer Jack" yet. (I have a totally irrational love of that song going back to primary school). I know that's not its real name, but if you know it at all you'll recognise it by that and the wonderful psychedelic intro so the title wouldn't be any use anyway.

you've just reminded me of puff the magic dragon actually.

The skit on "Doggystyle" where a child version of Snoop is asked what he wants to be when he grows up;

"I wanna be a mutha-fukkin' hustler, you better ask somebody."

:D:cool:
