Sounds great bar the lack of Cowboys, what's it called?

Well that one's called Zetor, which (-now I come to remember it...) is actually done out in a (-deeply ironic) tractor theme.

There was another restaurant/bar across town called Leningrad Cowboys, which was done out in a cross between Tex-Mex and Russian, but I think that one's closed now.

Strange sense of humour... :D

"Mwng" by the Super Furry Animals is one of the best foreign-language albums I've ever heard.

This is another pretty good one on the Welsh language tip:

the Ukrainians - they ROCK in a balalaika assault sort of way! (their album of Smiths covers is fantastic)

Weren't they something to do with The Wedding Present?

Bloody 'ell....early Gorky's and Ectogram mentioned. I've got S4C Wants me make me to take crack (or whatever it's called :D ) with Catatonia on it even!Angst (sp?) records were really on it at one point!

I want to add Nouvelle Vague to the mix as there seems to be a lot of French bands mentioned on this thread. And there's a lot to be said for punk(y/ish) covers done in a lounge stylie :D

On the non-anglophone iPod today: on the North African front, I'm currently listening to Rachid Taha, Duoud, Tinariwen and some Gnawa trance from the Festival of the Desert.
From Spain, Ojos de Brujo, and Oumo Sangare from Mali, and Zap Mama from everywhere.
Cuban hip-hop from Orishas :)

rachid taha - french/algerian, a bit mad
les negresses vertes (as already mentioned)
ali hassan kuban - nubian wedding singer, some great songs
tinariwen
amr diab - egypt's answer to ricky martin, fab dancy stuff in arabic
hisham abbas - in a similar vein to mr diab (specially Nari Nari)
cheb khaled
ska cubano
mc solaar and saian super crew as already mentioned
wir sind helden are quite good as well
