Recommend some meditation music?

That's life.

I have a few books on meditation and all of them say that you shouldn't listen to music whilst you meditate.

Depends on what you're doing, tbh. Music can work in the same way as a text in lectio divina.

One way around the distractions is to pick a particular chair or wherever that you only use for meditation purposes.

Making it something regular and routine is something that pretty much all of the books I have recommend as well.

Sitting in the same chair, doing it at the same time every day, for the same amount of time, and so on.

I don't think music really helps, myself. It doesn't for me, anyway.

The problem with round here is that its in the middle of the city so you get car alarms and god knows what.

The UK branch of the Shaolin temple is off Junction road near Tufnell park next to a railway. They don't use music. Actually, when I used to train there (6 years ago now) someone did try to sell them whale music. They failed.

I suppose it depends what kind of meditation you're doing, but tbh I don't really have time for anything except cha'an/zen open mind.

An alarm clock. Set for the time that your meditation is due to finish.[

No idea what kind of meditation you do, like, but when I was a professional in the spirituality industry, one thing I used to do was pay acute attention to the ambient sounds going on around me (cars in the street, water in the pipes, blood in the ears, etc).

As with all meditation, the main thing is that you stick to the time you've put aside for yourself, not what you actually do while you're doing it.

What kind of meditation did you do? to me this is all kinds of wrong...

Found this....

Amd wanted to share

The first few seconds of listening impacted on me more than any other music I have heard.....ever.*.. maybe I needed this...right now.

Perhaps others will appreciate if too.

*eta....I have of course heard the mantra before....but this is different....love it.
