Mixes and compilations are probably the best way to find what you like. I'd start by checking out as many of the fabric series as you can. Mostly, you'll find each cd tends to stick to a certain style. If you're completely new to electronic music the first thing will be to see which genres you like.
Right now I’m listening to the second cd of Balance 14- Joris Voorn and I’m very impressed. His dj skills are the highlight, lots of diff styles, I reckon it’s one that non-electro heads would appreciate.
Movements by booka shade is a funky, well produced and melodic album.
Someone mentioned congo natty (new stuff coming- yay) on another thread, you’ll probably like that if you said your into dub or reggae.
Oh yeah btw– one song I’ve been playing heaps lately is Hoping – Louie Austen (herbert rmx). It’s brilliant. There's a ratpack style signing chorus and if anyone here can tell me what the original is I’d be chuffed. Just guessing there is one.
