Recommend me some punk......

Going back about 25 years...

Dead Kennedys, GBH, Peter and the Test Tube Babies and Conflict were my favourites.

Subhumans were a bit meh, but some of the stuff is ok.

Still listen to DK - deffo in my top 10 bands.

saw these guys last night - three 18 year olds with a 16 year old singer doing straight up revival music. they were bloody brilliant...

shit name though

mmm quite intriguing like a mix of Killing Joke and John Peel punk , encouraging to see some young uns who are NOT trying to be Fat Wrecks next stars

I've been away all weekend.

Listened to a bit of the DOA one before I went away, it's pretty good. The Alice Donut one was waiting for me when I got in late last night.

the geezer i got the Jello/Melvins CD has been back in touch but the trouble is they got security tags stuck on inner cover - problem?

Feeling good tonight, saw the Subhumans in Camden, and they were as good if not better than when i last saw them 24 years ago.

Also just watched this interview with singer Dick, and seems like he has his finger on the pulse.

um would give loads of bands that have no doubt already been mentioned (especially propagandhi n subhumans) but oi scouts, daycare swindlers, antischism, mdc, A global threat are some more that might not have been mentioned. bet a fair few people hate some of those though.

indeed, back to Onkets original post,Subhumans and Dicks lyrics in Citfish and cultureshock are i.m.o spot on,so yeah Subhumans!must admit to not hearing much "new"punk that grabs my ears but for what its worth i rate,Angelic Upstarts(1st 3)the Ruts,Rudimentary Peni,DeadKennedys,P.a.i.n,AOS3,Inner terrestrials, reading this thread and the different opinions(slaggings ?)make me think a whole thread should be dedicated to the question "what is PUNK?"to me its an outlook rather than which CDs you own,but what do i know i still listen to The 4 skins(The good the bad and the 4skins,Live side to be precise):p

Has no one said The Saints?
Their first album is great and I'm Stranded is a marvellous, marvellous tune. Never mind it coming out in '76 and still sounding fresh.

Saw Belgian punks the Usual Suspects on the weekend, awesome live band (very similar to inner terrestrials/PAIN). Chatting to the drummer he tells me he is also in a band called Cop on Fire. Had heard of them but had been put off by the name a bit. After establishing the Usual Suspects Connection decided to check out the EP... cracking little discovery, similar sort of vibe but more dubby, bit like Radical Dance Faction with a hint of AOS3

The person I bought the Alice Donut CD off chucked in another album who mentioned PAIN & AOS3 as well as a couple of other names I recognised in the sleeve notes.

Can't remember the name of them off the top of me head though.
