Recommend me some punk......

yeh i got the cd, looking for the early 7"s to pop up on ebay, unless you have them to sell? they were early 90s i think. i didn't really mean "old" i guess!

I haven't seen those around for years. They had a 4tr CDEP which was really good too.

the monks - black monk time. probably the first proper punk band and - in my opinion - the most exciting one.

That's a great album. It's funny when you read about the record company asking them to completely change their sound, then listen to the dreadful last track compared to the rest of the album. :D

it is still good that one though!
it is a great album, however if you listen to it thinking "this is going to be a punk record" you would be abit thrown, i think you should just listen to it thinking of the beatles or something and then you get how mental it is.

yes! recently watched that documentary on them - transatlantic feedback.
what a band they were! i discovered them when i was about to give up on music alltogether!

Cant think of anything to add right now, good list so far.
NoMeansNo shared their dinner with me in T.J's in Newport, good blokes as well as a shit hot band :)

Just read these posts on Youtube regarding The Monks:

This song is about Gary Burger having sex with a 7yr old when he was dressed up as a cuckoo. He did it as a prank when he was in Germany and almost got deported for it but they paid the authorities to cover it up.

its the truth mate. its one of these stories that you dont want to believe but i have heard it from a few different sources who were in germany back in the 60s.
Its still a great song even if the story behind it is stomach churning.

I do hope not. :(:hmm:

would it be crazy of me to say that i dont believe the anonymous youtube commenter saying "its the truth mate."

No, not at all. :D

I never read Youtube comments normally, and I down't think I'll take this one seriously either.

Nice Legs, Shame about the Face :D

Had the 7" of that as a kid. :o

aye that was fucking dreadful but Johnny B Rotten and one song off the album are great singalong punk, you can tell they were just showbiz jumpin on the bandwagon though, like that Freshmen 7" (great 7" but..)
