recommend me some new NEW music

kinda I guess :)

Here's another - bit more upbeat.

Florence and the Machine - Rabbit Heart

i am in no way saying that shoegazing is bad. and i didn't listen to the link before saying that, i'll do that in a minute :hmm: :D

i don't mind that florence song, but it's nowt special to these ears. i find her stuff a bit too...trendy. if that's not a particularly stupid thing to say :D

anyway. MG - what you said earlier in this thread is actually a good point - it is a bit daft to listen to music just *because* it's new, but that's not what i want. i fancy some music that's new AND good. i spend so much time listening to and searching for stuff that's already tried and tested that i often miss out on stuff that's current that i could be giving a go :)

Frontier Ruckus are astonishingly good. Imagine Neutral Milk Hotel with more bluegrass and less anguish but similar vocals and brass. A truly gorgeous record

fucking hell is this what i'm missing out on by listening to the Oi!

right, i've had a quick run through the mimaroglu mailout, and i've decided, having listened to the audio extracts of the chris weisman 'tape walk' compact disc, the chris weisman/greg davis 'northern songs' cd, and the emeralds 'fresh air' limited 7", that the OP should get those. Orang Utan should get that gunner møller pedersren 6 LP box set. night, night!

huh? why me?

for stuff like Gallows, try The Bronx or Cancer Bats.

shouty hardcore but with a bit of hip-swinging boogie. lifts them above the others i reckon, in a RFTC way but not.

Martyn - Great Lengths. Really great album if you like dubstep/electronic music.

i've got dnb by him which is really good, but the non-dnb stuff i've heard didn't grab me on first listen and i coudln't be arsed to give it much of a second try. i might even have deleted it off of my hard drive. i'll check and maybe give it another whirl. cheers anyway, though :)

can I recommend Frontier Ruckus AGAIN?

this album isn't out of my headphones for any length of time at the moment

king khan and the shrines? i know you dig garage rock, so they'd probably be up your street...

just gave them a quick myspace whirl and am now downloading three of their albums. cheers.

i think i'm gonna be building up a long list of CDs to buy...

Another vote for FRONTIER RUCKUS

Other amazing stuff out this year:

AA Bondy (Fat Possum Records - second album)
Telekinesis! (Merge Records; Superchunk vs Weezer)
Male Bonding (Sub Pop but are Londoners; noisy pop)
and finally

FREE ENERGY - signed to DFA. Produced by Murphy himself but sound like a slacker Thin Lizzy. Great stuff.
