Recommend me some *great* dance tracks

Nothing wrong with asking people about good tunes I might have missed, Dub. Have you never asked a DJ what he's playing?

I'm an amateur and I'm here to learn more and get better at what I do - and I'm not too proud to ask people for suggestions. But I'll only ever play songs I love.

yeh, but the thread didn't seem to be about you just finding dance tunes you might like, but finding dance tunes to play at offline, that's the bit that seems a bit odd.

not that it matters, like

Then you've misread both my intentions and the thread. I clearly said in post #3, "I just fancy listening to some tunes that urbanites are recommending and seeing if I like them," and adding two posts later, "No one's "telling" me what to play. I'm *asking* for some recommendations to see if there's anything I like that I haven't heard before."

I'm a bit surprised you even thought I'd start playing stuff I don't like, to be honest. I'm every bit as passionate as you are when it comes to my music and there is no way on earth I'm going to stand behind the decks and play something I don't like. What would be the point of that?!

i have, and it still doesn't say anything like what you've suggested. :)

That's a demonstrably incorrect statement.

Whatever.

nope, because the use of the word 'just' makes all the difference.

Sorry, don't know why you're being so fucking paranoid, but i didn't ANYWHERE imply you'd play something you didn't like. YOU read what i posted again - making sure you include the word 'JUST' and then please stop putting words into my mouth.

aawwrrr, are dub and editor hungover?

not in the slightest, i'm a grand mood, which is why i'm not going to waste any more time on a stupid fucking spat like this :D

I've no idea what your point is, or why you decided to wade into this thread with such negativity, but it's sunny outside and I've got better things to than bicker over, well, fuck knows. :D

For the record, I've listened to quite a few of the recommendations so far (thanks peeps - keep 'em coming!) and not found anything I'm likely to play at Offline yet (apart from the ones I've already got, match).

That's what I was getting at - if you missed these tunes the first time, you can't be that into them

Without wishing to get drawn into this good-natured spat - that's not really true is it. Just because someone missed out on something first time around, it's not for you or anyone else to decide if they are 'into it' enough.

Yeah, you're right. :o
I still find it a bizarre request though, esp the catch-all term 'dance'

You'd have to be an absolute arse to assume that you'd heard every great song from every genre that was around when you were growing up.

What makes you dance? Play that. Simple.

I don't think it's that simple. A lot of people can dance to techno, or drum abd bass, but I can't.

Shitdisco - I know Kung Fu
Bloc Party - Banquet (Phones Disco Edit)
CSS - Alala

And another vote for Girls Aloud - Something Kinda Ooh/No Good Advice

A lot of people dance to Kylie and Jason. Am I gonna play it? No. You can't please everyone. Although of course it depends where you're playing. Gabba in a pub on Sunday isn't gonna cut it (doesn't cut anywhere tbh).

I think the stress is on 'what makes you dance? You shouldn't just play stuff cos it makes other people dance, unless you're one of those Ritzy-type DJs
