I HATEmashups :D

My favourite in recent memory: Layo & Bushwacka! - Finally vs Love Story

My favourite so far this year: Trentemoller - Moan (Trentemoller mix)

Also seek out the work of the mighty Booka Shade, especially In White Rooms.

Oh my god, can't believe it's a good trance track: Sasha - Xpander

As someone mentioned Sasha...

Sasha - Be as one (1996)

Booka Shade seconded, some great tunes in the last couple of years. White Rooms (Neo Mix) especially.

I'm not a big drum n bass fan but I love the Brazilian Drumagick stuff. Especially Sambarock & Easyman. Nice, happy & uplifting but still with plenty of punch.

alot of the suggestions on here are absurd, i know Ed wouldn't play alorra this house stuff not least 'never gonna dance again' by yourstruly. Unless peeps recognise it they ain't gonna do dance stuff generally speakin.

Blue Monday / DS's I feel love /Deelite are universally tried&tested tunes that will get any dance floor. I'll 2nd 'saturday' by De la soul as another ace hit that crosses boundaries> Roller skating Jamm

Goldfrapp - Ooh la la (Trentmoller remix I think)

Royksop - What else is there (Thin White Duke remix)

Killers - Mr Brightside (Thin White Duke remix)

Hard Fi - Hard to beat (Axwell Remix)

Some good White Stripes remixes out there (Seven Nation Army)

Should be some remixes of that Kate Nash tune soon, if not already. Is what I am playing with atm :)

As Clint Eastwood said, "A man's gotta know his limitations" and when it comes to DJing dance stuff when Offline is kicking major arse, I'm painfully aware of the paucity of thumping tunes in my ska/punk-heavy record bag.

So I thought I'd ask the collective might of the urban massive for some top suggestions. Give me your best shots folks!

(If you know Offline, you'll know that anyone playing trance or happy house would be debagged and made to eat fluoro underpants, so none of that please).

Ha! Like I'm gonna give my secrets away! ;)

I'm liking Roller Skating Jam, Wrongspeed but I honestly don't see why people would be more likely to dance to that than the ones that I listed

That Doubtful Guest track you posted was just horrible!

Juliet Roberts - Caught In The Middle
K Klass - Let Me Show You
First Choice - Let No Man Put Asunder
Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game
The Brand New Heavies - Back to Love
Kym Sims - Too Blind To See It
Shawn Christopher - Another Sleepless Night
Gat Décor - Passion
Degrees Of Motion - Do You Want It Right Now
Sonique - Feels So Good
Indeep - Last Night A DJ Saved My Life
Gwen Guthrie - Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But The Rent

everyone likes a bit of old-school rave. :)

the prodigy are a bit over-played, but 'everybody in the place' always works nicely. maybe altern8's 'activ8'? smart-e's 'sesame's treet'? something by shut up and dance?

oh, and pretty much anything from the first basement jaxx album would work too.

yeh, that's what i thought.

weird thread IMO - surely the point of booking people to play is that they know about the stuff they're playing, and you know about the stuff you're playing. Otherwise, why bother? do it all yourself or something :D

Nothing wrong with asking people about good tunes I might have missed, Dub. Have you never asked a DJ what he's playing?

I'm an amateur and I'm here to learn more and get better at what I do - and I'm not too proud to ask people for suggestions. But I'll only ever play songs I love.
