Recommend me some comic books

and 'cause you asked for no sci-fi, i expect.

you should probably get it anyway - it uses the normal comicbook formats, and subverts them all at the same time. a brilliant book imo.

if i'd read this thread earlier i would have offered to lend you from hell, electrogirl. never mind. it is totally worth the money.

aw thank you! Like you say, if it's that good it's worth owning anyway.

I'm building up a wishlist on Amazon now.

I think I'm going to get Maus next.

ooh, if you're getting maus, make sure to get the two volume edition, or buy 1 & 2 at the same time - it works much better in one sitting.

Sorry....eh? There is more than the one book? I have only ever seen it as the one book. I know it came out as comics originally but these days, I mean. Are there more?

Also, Palestine is well worth getting. Every bit as good as Maus imo.

Watchen is a work of art. not seen the movie but the book reallly affected me.

"I looked up to the sky through smoke thick with human fat and I knew what cats know that makes them cry like babies in the night".
Great stuff
V for vendetta is also a fantastic book. The whole atmosphere. Britain as a fascist state. The movie was a disgrace by comparison.
Palestine is very clever and very serious.
Maus one and two are simply beautiful classics.

yeah there's maus, and then maus II. i've seen it as both a combined, or more regularly separate editions.

if you've not read maus II, you missing out...

Just to say, I have now read From Hell, which I thought was incredible, really dense but unputdownable.

I've now ordered Maus.
