Recommend me a TV show/season

Arrested Development
Carnivale

And following the enthusiastic recommendations here and elsewhere, I've just started watching the first series of The Wire - really enjoying it so far.

The Wire. Again. Do believe the hype. Motherfucker.

Veronica Mars season one (of three). It's about a high school girl who, inbetween classes, works as a private eye. Beautifully written and acted with a cracking murder mystery expertly woven through its 22 episodes.

I have just realized I have a friend who is the the white Bodie.

He has the same personality, looks, even spits like him.

Well after being away for over a year and not missingor watching TV at all, the addiction has slowly creeped back in. I can only blame it on short days and wet even so I'm pretty much stuffed as I love the outdoors!

So far I've watched Lost S3 & Heroes.

Can anyone recommend me a series/documentary that's worth the watch? I'm pretty open to all types of topics/stories as long as it has some intelligence to the whole thang. :D

Watch Battlestar Galactica. Watch the Pilot, Season 1, 2, 3 and Razor. Worth every minute and every penny.

Shit man, im dead jealous of people who are just discovering BSG and the Wire and get to watch them on DVD back to back.

The Wire is undoubtedly very good but I still maintain that Deadwood is/was better. I still dream of the day when they make those extended episodes/films they spoke about to tie up after the last series.

Oz was great too.

Both Series of Life on Mars, it is all hurrendously fun. It has the right mix of drama and humour. *Geek alert* I even have the poster with the quotes on it. Also Band of Brothers. I bought the box set in the HMV sale not really knowing that much about it, it is sooo good.
Damien Lewis is brilliant as is Ron Livingstone. Also the second series of Torchwood is shaping up better than the first.

"Excuse me have you seen a blow fish driving a sports car ?"
"Bloody Torchwood"

Just watched Razor...liked the alternative Cylon Cyborg slant but did think it was very drawn out (which US producers seem to be good at these days). Even the original 'Sigourney Weaver hard bitch Captain' and her wanna be clone seemed to be concentrated on way to much when they could have expanded a little more on the Cylon Wars and its build up.

I'm hoping watching S1 & S2 will shed some light on this filler :)

I thought season 3 of weeds lost its way a bit:hmm:

House (Hugh lawrie playing a junkie doctor)
Brothers and sisters (aww its so lubbely)
If you like the wire you may like shield (start at the beginning)
the wire (tough the second season out)

Firefly a sci fi from the creator of buffy (its a bit like a civil war western sci fi)

anyone seen Blade the series (is it worth downloading)?

House!

A bit like ER, only it doesn't make you want to beat all the characters to death for being so preachy and irritating. Ok, so nothing like ER then. But that's a good thing. Hugh Laurie is great

Hugh Laurie is ok, but I just don't believe in the character at all. He just seems grumpy because that's the gimmick to sell the show on. I found the individual episodes repetitive and formulaic and gave up half way through the first season.

Got to second Curb Your Enthusiasm. A mate showed me one episode the other day and I was hooked.

I know it's a bit self-referential and post-modern, but it's a fantastic concept - middle aged, rich, successful guy who constantly does the kind of stuff that we do in our 20s when we get really hammered and talk rubbish with our mates.

Of what's on at the moment, I would vote for 30 Rock - smart, self-referential comedy or Damages which is more of a drama.

Reaper is also fun in a switch your brain off way.

Other shows that are not currently airing, House gets my vote - just love his cynicism and sarcasm.

I've caught the tv-series-dowload-and-gorge bug, big time. So any more good stuff out there?

So far I'm guzzling The Wire (obv.), Deadwood, and Battlestar Gallactica. I've got my eyes on a few others mentioned in this thread.

Anything new or obvious I'm missing?
