Recommend me a rubbish but fun book!

Have you read any of the Ladies N01 Detective Agency series ? I like them for an enjoyable but non taxing read.

Or how about John Irving...I adore 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' but he has written a ton of other great books.

Milk, Sulphate and Alby Starvation by Martin someoneorother. Excellent, rapid, funny, silly yet strangely convincing coincidencetastic romcom.

Really though, do you need anything other than JILLY COOPER :D

Martin Millar does not do romcom:mad::p I like minette walters and ruth rendall for read in a few gripping hours then forget territory:)

I've been reading some by Jodi Picault lately. I particularly enjoyed 'Nineteen Minutes'. Would you like to have my copy? :)

Not sure how Jodi Picoult fits into the 'rubbish but fun' category. She's not rubbish, and her books are not what I'd call fun - they are pretty serious subjects.

undercover cops fuck up every single job they get put on, get shot, write book which reads like a cross between Bravo Two Zero and Kidulthood. Amusing and entertaining, easy on the brain cells. Can't go wrong...

Random (ish) quote:

I took a fillar job as an RSPCA ambulance Driver - It sounds more glamourous than it is

E2A another quote

I'd pick up a kitten, flip it over, stab it in the breast bone with the syringe and inject it then toss it in the bucket and move on to the next one. Sometimes I'd be at it for hours.

I recommend anything by Jasper Fforde.

IMHO not rubbish at all but very easy to read, funny and relaxing.

My favourites were The Big Over Easy and The Fourth Bear

I've just discovered this guy - picked up First among Sequels in the library.

Seems really good so far. In fact I'm tempted to order all five off amazon second hand as this sort of thing is right up my street :)

The Harry Potter series fits the bill perfectly. Very Enid Blyton, easy to plough through, not a bad plot by the end of it all.

I was also going to suggest the Hitch-Hiker's Guide, or Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (also by Douglas Adams).

Agatha Christie might work too. Easy to pick up cheap in charity shops.
