Recommend me a nice 'mummy' car please....

Clarkson is a twit, but his comment that "Subarus are probably the most reliable cars made – they make Hondas look like South American dictatorships" was pretty much spot on. There's a reason farmers love them.

my dad's a farmer ;) he has a honda ;)

As Swarfega says, if you can go a bit higher go for for the Jazz's bigger sister, the Honda Civic

An extremely sexy car IMO.

That's a five door model by the way. And with more gadgets and clever things than a car ought to have. Very sexy inside too, and the magic back seats that recline like those in a cinema will even allow you to carry two adult size bicycles at the back.

It may loook nice but the view to the rear is shite and apparently it has a few more mechanical problems than a typical honda.

Yes she is :D

<runs>

 :hmm:

Anyway, while I plot my revenge on bees....................

I saw one in the pub car park tonight and it is indeed a very nice car. I was asking the driver what he thought and he seemed quite impressed. He had his back seats folded down and there was loads of room!

However, Lemon Eddy's link does say

For a car that is obviously aimed at city-dwellers, who invariably have to leave their cars in vulnerable places from time to time, it is strange to note the complete absence of remote control locking and alarm systems.

I'd need remote locking and an alarm. :hmm:

It's only the S model that doesn't have that, the SE and SE-Sport have remote locking

haven't read the thread so it's probably already been advised, but i'd always go for japanese or german.

Def don't buy new! Get a slightly older model, because (1) you'll miss the huge depreciation of all new cars and (2) any faults will have come to light with a slightly earlier generation. New car buyers are the quality control department for car companies.

Hmmm....

Sounds to me like Moomoo needs something like a Zafira (medium mpv) or a Meriva (smaller mpv). Up to a 2ltr or 1.8 engine respectively....
Or you can get a Focus mpv like version.....I forget what they call it . Would get a good part ex too with the Vauxhalls. :)

Oh, I wasn't going to get a new car! Just new to me. :)

Jayen, I do like the look of the Focus but people say Fords are a bit crap which puts me off.

And after everyone has been so helpful, I may have to put the whole thing on hold anyway as part of my bedroom ceiling looks like it's about to collapse so I may need to spend the money on roofing repairs / plasterers instead anyway. :(

Moomoo.....have you ever thought about going to the auctions ?? Save yourself a fortune...take the dealers profit out of the equation....
Shouldn't really say that as I sell vehicles sometimes. :hmm::D

And the house falling apart !?? DON'T get me started on builders !!
