Maybe if you just go a bit abroad and stay in Europe, you can pop back easily enough every couple of months with cheapo Easyjet flights etc.

You could become a club promoter. You'd be able to stand on the door and administer a quiz on chin stroking techno knowledge before you let anybody in. ;)

If you seriously want to explore how to transfer your skills/knowledge to another area, there is a book called 'What colour is your parachute' that I think is the best book ever produced on the subject of job hunting and career management.

The author Richard Bolles, has a web site here.

Oopss sorry OU!
It's the kind of dancing where you wear sparkly outfits and huge head feathers etc. in expensive clubs/casino's.
Oh ermm...would you go topless or not? Positions for both types available. ;)

:p :D

PGCE? Then, after gaining a few years experience, the possibility to work for International Schools on (generally) decent money.
Hmmmm.... I'm scouting around for an international school at the moment, but I think I'm in the same 'fed up to fuck' boat as the OPer - rather sick of teaching, tbh. :(

One of those community support coppers sounds a good job - leave all the heavy stuff to the pros, but still get to ponce around in the uniform/enjoy the banter of the station. etc. etc. £25k

Yes, but have you seen the TV ad? 'Oi! What you looking at??!!' People with aggressive dogs. Some youth saying 'Leave it out!'. Doesn't sound a bed of roses to me, Hollis.

Yes - but you say "Watch it Sunny Jim, You're dealing with the Met"

- pretty soon you find your problems go away.

Teach people to learn to drive?

Good money, mostly yr own boss...

I new someone who did this and the money wasnt that good as they were self employed and contracted to one fo the big companies, so no paid holidays, sick pay, pension etc etc.

I don't think I'd be very good at that seeing as I don't drive.
I wouldn't want to be responsible for putting more drivers on the road anyway.

Also worth checking out the Mets "High Potential Development Scheme"

"..you will spend two years ‘on probation' as a police constable... you may progress to inspector level, where you will need to exhibit excellent management and policing skills."

"..Many people study for a master's degree but you can pursue other studies, for example towards a PhD. "

See - one day you arresting people for being naughty boys, next you hot shot PhD academic. - You have all the brains and the brawn.

If only I was a younger guy. :(

Ah! And then the miscreant tips his hat and hurries away full of shame.

Being a policeman would be quite interesting wouldnt it, im starting to think about doing it now. Any ex police here? Is it a big life style change?
E.g would you have to distance yourself from law-breaking friends(even if it wasnt morally wrong things) Do they have drug tests?

I think community support would be the worst one though, do you have to start as that? They seem to be the ones that walk around, or maybe a push bike if theyre lucky, and generally dont get any respect.

Theres a few, Detective Boy and Agricola are ex coppers I think, Pot Bellied Pig is a serving officer.

I could never be a copper - I just don't have enough respect for the law - it would be a bit hypocritical arresting people for drugs n stuff.

As for CSOs - not for me - if I was going to be a copper, I would want to be a proper one, not an ersatz plastic copper with no power
