But wouldn't a bit less get me a lot further abroad? Rent would certainly cheaper wouldn't it?

It really depends where you want to go. Do you have a destination in mind?

A change of scenery perhaps? we have a team here that look after the footage sales side, so the job will consist of completing clip orders and dispatching tapes.

Its a pretty dull job, working for a corp and i dont think they pay well, but if you are interested I can pass you some contact info.

I might be interested - do let us know, although I'm not sure if I could afford a pay cut.

What aboutthat Job in Qatar?

I'd think about going abroad mate - its not like you've got kids or a mortgate, career wise i dont think it will make any difference. Just make sure you've got a grand or two in the bank for when you return and you can just pick up where you left off.

That's the thing, I don't - maybe I should wait til next year cos my debts are clear then

Qatar job - not sure I could take the boredom of a TV job with TV types in a strange country - teaching would be a lot more stimulating

Oh, and about £30K would cover it - customer service and libraries don't really pay that well, so am looking for another area altogether.
I hear there is a position going at Australia Zoo and you get to wrestle crocodiles. :)

Super model?
Pop Star?

I reckon I'm going to be out of a job in a couple of months so I'll watch this thread with interest. I've never been really sure what I want to do, other than stay in bed/independently wealthy

Isn't there any sort of career guidance for adult?

How about training for soem specialist Librarianship? didnt you once mention to me you were thinking of legal librarianship?

I think I need to get my eyes tested again...

I thought you were after a new carer from the thread title.

Yeah - but I couldn't get the time off to study for that AND do I really want to work for lawyers?

Yeah, I bet theres a lot of wankers in that environment!

I know you love literature and you write well have you thought about trying to develop those skills and seeing if theres a chance to make a living in it?

I sometimes think I wish I'd kept on training to be a carpenter and might be happier doing something with my hands.

PGCE? Then, after gaining a few years experience, the possibility to work for International Schools on (generally) decent money.

How do you get one of those in a full time job?

I think you can do part-time PGCEs although you would still have to take some time of work to do your teaching practice.

I definitely think you should take some time out and teach English abroad OU. Think of all the fun you could have correcting their grammar!

Then you could return to England and save inner city kids from a life of crime by showing them the right way to use an apostrophe.

I'm all confused - I want to go abroad but I don't want to miss any of my nephew growing up and my mum's illness seems to be speeding up.
