The multipoint operation has GOT to be used when leaving the premises empty.
It's the "Deadlock".

In the case of my lock it's all or nothing - there's no other locked position.

Whereabouts in the country are you roughly Boycey?? Try having a look at http://www.screwfix.com/cats/A257867/Security/Door-Security for many types of lock and security things. Think the p&p is a bit eek but they have lots of shops so there might be one localish.
