best I can see on ebuyer for a 17 inch is this, but not much of a SSD but I suppose you could get an external one later down the road.

How about this? It's a Ryzen 5 rather then i5, but AMD are making some great chips at the moment and it's a fair equivalent.

That looks good. I prefer not to give my custom to Curry’s but I am not proper boycotting them and I know it’s not always possible to avoid them.

Is that enough hard drive to store photos do you think? (I do but I’m not up on what future requirements will be, iykwim).

It depends how many you have you have, but it's a good amount. In the price range you're looking at though, you'll really struggle to find an SSD bigger and I'd avoid anything with a conventional hard drive like the plague.

If you really struggle down the line there is always cloud storage or external drives and USB 3 is pretty quick.

yes, very good if you keep an eye out for the actual deals rather than the creative price fudging of which there is loads.

Amazon pricing and checking it out on CamelCamelCamel is always a good start I find
