 :(

Well, I got the Miele, the specialist parquet floors one (we don't have a single carpet in the house, and only two rugs).

Just spent half an hour hoovering and loving it. Proper metal bits proper 'clunks' when you slot it together, super suction, very low decibel - more "strong hum" than "Boeing 747 screeching to take off", a la the last one ( a cheapo Goblin).

160 quid mind - I'll get back to you in five years time for a progress report :D

Cheers, all.

Welcome to the Miele appreciation society! ;)

For some reason, it's always me that does the hoovering in our house, along with taking the rubbish out and recycling. MrsHackneyE9 cleans the bathroom and kitchen sink. Just the way it's worked out after 10 years together - but I guess that means I've just bought myself a massive early Chrimbo present, in effect!

I'm the hooverer in this house. I've never really enjoyed hoovering but the Miele almost makes it a pleasure. Almost.

Enjoy your pressie :)

*bump*

Our hoover has died :(

Can't really spend more than £100, but want something that'll last us for more than a year and a half - and does a good job on both wooden floors and carpet.

Any suggestions?

I've just gone and got me a Miele an hour ago (Model S5211 in sexy black ). Just been trying it out. Impossible to push if you have the vent shut as it's so powerful so just hoovered by dragging it :D

(It looks like the picture of Brix's one)

I did want the Miele S380 which you can get for £100 but couldn't find anywhere local that had them

Anyway, it beats the Henry hands down.

The Dyson is just as good except it doesn't work and it's far too heavy and cumbersome and lacks attachment tools.

I love my Miele

ETA: I've just realised as well there's no horrible smell left in the air which I get when we use the Henry
