Recommend me a good Jamaican restaurant in London please

OT : Some of the best ones are just little takeaways. The one at the beginning of Wells street in Hackney is fantastic even if you have to put up with quite the most surly staff in the whole of London.

There's also a Caribbean Restaurant on Lower Clapton Road. I've never been myself though.

I've been there. I quite liked it, nice feel to the place, decent food. Bear in mind that I know nothing about authentic caribbean food, but I can say it was well tasty. :)

I like Mango Rooms, partly because I used to work round the corner and had an expense account, but the food's not really that great or traditionally caribbean. It's a little lighter, more anglicised, a bit blander than the norm. Cotton's, down Chalk Farm Road, is actually pretty decent too - not as refined, but the food's better flavoured and the cocktails more vicious.

You'll get better food from many a takeaway to be fair, and at keener prices, but they're not business friendly sit down operations in the same way. Top marks for Real Taste, the new operation on Water Lane and Lick Fingers on Tulse Hill near to me - flavour filled, tasty and large portions, with the Atlantic Bakery also doing some good stews. Mr Doubles in Herne Hill does some excellent roti, as does the Bushman's Kitchen near the Rec. Jam 1 in Clapham ain't bad either.

For sit down meals, I've a soft spot for The Hummingbird on Stroud Green Road, although I haven't been for years. Similarly Paradise Inn in Norbury, near to the excellent Mirch Masala, is worth a visit too.
