Rise Above
I haven't bought one for years but all these comic book movies have got me wanting to get back on it. I suppose that's the idea isn't it...

I wouldn't mind finding out where to start with Watchmen - the movie looks really cool and I remember always hearing good things about the books. Liking the look of the Spirit movie too and wondering if those are any good.

I always used to like Spawn, Preacher, AVP and Batman. Spawn in particular.

Thanks!

Transmetropolitan, Invisibles, Hundred Bullets

DC/Vertigo titles are usually rather good.

For some old skool you might like The Ballad Of Halo Jones

This.

Also Sandman, Alan Moore Swamp Thing (or anything really) Warren Ellis's Authority run, Y - The Last Man and Preacher are all worth checking out.

The Watchmen is amazing definitely read it.

great thread, gives me some good ideas for stuff to add to my wish list just before christmas! :D

Jesus, the invisibles is bollocks.

I'm reading 100 bullets but I getting a little bored shittless of it now.

Go for any Allan Moore (apart from V) and Fables (first books a bit crap though).

Transmetropolitan, Invisibles, Hundred Bullets...

I was reading about the Invisibles in Wizard magazine (good read btw, find it in Borders) and it sounded right up my street. Have to take a look. IIRC the guy behind Hundred Bullets just did a Joker book that's meant to be pretty good.

Thanks everyone!

lucky bastard. i've got books 1 and 4 somewhere, but haven't read them in ages.

just downloading the whole lot now.

Not that lucky. I did buy them when they came out. The final story (in Colour not that lame 10 years later one off piece of shit) was never released.

When I was filing 2000ad a few years ago they said they were going to bring them all out again but I guess that never happened.

Also, interestingly there was supposed to be loads more Halo Jones but Moore wanted the rights to all his creations and 2000ad can't license work like that (or something). Plus Ian Gibson was becoming a massively lazy and sloppy worker and 2000ad started refusing to accept his work.

some dispute between the publisher & grant morrison apparently

He is a wanker. Most of his stuff is bollocks. It always looks like it's going somewhere then it just turns to shit.

Zenith and WE3 are good though. I secretly quite like animal man as well but I think he fucked up an ace idea. When he writes himself in at the end, jesus what an emo nob suck.

Is V for Vendetta worth getting, ppl?

A friend lent me the collection of some early "preacher" and I enjoyed it. I'm looking for something easy-ish....

I really didn't like V for Vendetta and I love Moore.

Get Top 10 and the 49ers (don't get the third non Moore top 10 book though, it's a total shit sandwich)
