Didn't manage to finish it. Got a bit tired. Will finish tomorrow. In 30 minute increments. Mas ó menos.

Loads of school groups in town today. Each one stops you for at least 20 minutes whilst you try to say 'no tocar'. No! 'NO FUCKING WELL TOCAR'.

Do they listen? Do they fuck :D

Fun on the whole. Disappointed myself with my incredible lack of Spanish still after over two years. Possibly missing out on something very special. Still, I have tomorrow to try again.

Well done Stanley !

..... I always marvel at artist that can work in public !!!

Ta!

It's actually extremely easy to ignore all that's going on around you. It's just the spy shot creeps with their telephotos that get up your nose. Generally, with the groups of school kids I'm more concerned about them getting shit oils on their clothes.

Met a fun bunch from Liverpool today. Really funny bunch of gay lads. Departing shot; 'I may never see you again, so I leave you with just one word - LOVE' :D

Saw him again about 10 minutes later. He wasn't quite sure what to say :D

School groups and teenagers, whilst being the most time consuming, are actually the most encouraging and enthusiastic. And, fun. They actually make it far more worthwhile.

Looks very nice - certainly from this distance it looks like some good texture contrasts ( did you take my advice then? :D)

I'm going to tone it all down a bit later :D

It's a pain in the arse to carry everything around. I'd finish it at home, but there's a gorgeous girl selling photographs close to where I paint and she's promised some inter-cambio sessions. Only reason I'm painting on the street TBH :D Not that I really stand a chance. I left her being chatted up by Five different guys last night.

Have to finish it today. I need to collect cash. Will post a pic of the finished product this evening if I'm not inter-cambioing, or something.

...

What paints do you use?

Spanish made Titan oils. They're very good.

Same limited pallet with a bit of dark green.

White
Black
Burned Umber
Yellow Ochré
Lemon Yellow
Ultramarine
Terracotta
Dark Green

I'm going to run out very shortly. Need to collect cash to restock tomorrow morning, or I run into cash-flow probs again!

e2a; Ooooh. My man has apparently sold a painting. Cash to collect. Yay!

Better get back to work.

It's sort of stone work texture in the same colours as the plants opposite. It works :)

:hmm:

my teacher use to tell me to blur my eyes when i looked at my paintings so I could see what stands out the most - it helps to see if your composition leads you through the picture or you are just drawn to one spot.

Yes. That's very useful. Thank you.

:)

You're talking about primary school art classes right?

bugger off.... my teacher did her MA at the Royal College of Art at 17... and she got her A-level students out with As....

i paint on occasion -just not for a long time...

Fucking rule sayers.

No place for such people in my world of art. It can't be taught. It comes from the heart.

An MA at 17! At the RCA!!! :hmm:

Watch this space this time tomorrow :)

But some rules are helpful...like that one... :D

try it or does it scare you?? go on, blur those eyes - i dare you. :p

yer-things come from the heart but that doesn't mean there isn't room to learn and improve... Art/creativity is an up hill challenge and i want to improve myself - I don't want to be stuck cos no-one dares challege my designs...

I blur my eyes about fifty times every minute.

It's the easiest way to see the tones.

Someone started talking to me today and came up with a great quote about artists. Went something along the lines of 'artists have to make more decisions everyday than any other profession'. It's correct, but it doesn't really matter if you make the wrong decision.

Enough. Bed.

So you could have just said you did it already then?

I'll pm you a couple of mine tomorrow morning - as it's a bit unfair to be a critic and not share my own (though rather old) work...

i'm sure you don't care about my opinion, but i'm torn between study 3 (in the OP) and study 5, but i really like the way the 'real thing' is coming along.

The 'boring' one - i agree. It's really skilful, a great bit of work, but it lacks passion somehow.

Thanks.

I'm veering towards study 3 in style. A mix of 3 and 5 with some 'magical' light happening in places. Too many of these are looking like Two separate paintings in One. The buildings are far to different in style and light to the greenery. To much contrast between natural and man made. No pressure to finish immediately now, so I may spend a few more days looking at it until something comes right.

Finished. I think.

Working well and truly outside of any 'rules' I know of. Bit nervous about this one.

Think I like it. Need to not see it for a few days to be sure.
