    @ ringo

You had to tell me about TNT roots/earthquake studio didnt you? I've been hunting everywhere for their stuff after listening...... Its pretty much impossible to find, I found some finished listings on ebay at $49.99 for an album, and tracks on youtube..... nothing else!!

    A tricky business :)

I have one early LP with an amazing homemade cover glued onto the cardboard sleeve that I found for £2 many years ago and the CD that came out last year. I think he only had 500 made and they went by word of mouth, he's not much interested in commercial sales. I've just realised that one LP with a particularly crap cover is a record I used to see in the bins years ago but didn't take much notice of

PM me your address, I'll sort you something out.

That'd be lovely..... Shame he wants to keep it all so down low, it means home listeners like me don't get to hear their stuff unless its on youtube.

TNT Roots has just released two CDs, which he says will be his last. £12 each direct from him, details here:

The "Dub Clash" album Alborosie did is pretty great.

Looks like it's all up on youtube.

What do you do, just send the money and hope it arrives?

I got the Mungo's Hifi Serious Dubs LP the other day

    Yes, he'll send it.

Dubs to some of their recent releases isn't it? I like some of them, think I've heard enough 80's style do-over rhythms at the moment though. I want new stuff. Originate not replicate.

I'm trying to decide if I want it, I got a copy of another of his releases...... Bone shattering, but I've never played them out (mainly because I just forget about CDs in a rush to get all the vinyl I want on..... If there was a vinyl release I'd be all over it I reckon.

I really like that style, but then I don't know much of the original, dubs a bit new to me on the shopping list, I've got a few bits and pieces but most of what I've bought on vinyl is ska and roots. All the stuff I know I like I can't afford or find (iration steppas, Abassi all stars etc) , and I've only found a couple of artists who I like that are still putting stuff out reasonably regularly....

I did get this the other day on lp, Dub Dynasty - thundering mantis...... Big tunes imho

I've toyed with joining up to blood and fire forum, generally friendly? (I can't imagine it not being, but worth an ask)

tbh I don't play them out because they're on CD and they're so heavy I can't see people dancing to it at the places I usually play at. Like you say though a lot of the other stuff is now so expensive that grabbing things like this when it comes out is the best way. Plus he doesn't do proper releases or publicity so you know not that many people will have this.

Thats Dub Dynasty looks good. I haven't bought much UK Dub for the last year or two, too much sub standard droning dub by numbers.

Have a look at these though:

    http://www.dubvendor.co.uk/five-riv...tribute--version-five-rivers-uk-7-28736-p.asp

    http://www.dubvendor.co.uk/restless-mashaits---adwa-march--adwa-version-partial-uk-7-28621-p.asp

One of the all time killer UK Dub tunes:

    http://www.jahwaggysrecords.com/en/...hovia-danny-red-jailhouse-rock-danny-red.html

Blood & Fire forum is friendly but past its best tbh. Funding rumoured to be cut, no responses from admins from people trying to register and may soon be switched off. But then they've been saying that for 5 years.....

I may just nab it for the hell of it, even if I don't get to play it out……

I've bought a little bit recently, predominantly that mungo's hifi release, the dub dynasty release and zion trains money ep that came out recently.

Thanks for the links, Ill have a look…… I'm going to end up spending money aren't I though?

Got any suggestions for a good source of new dub releases? Like a blog or something?

The new releases page on the Blood & Fire links above is generally where producers announce their new stuff.

Online there's Dub Vendor, reggaemusicstore (about to go Discogs only), Dub Vendor, Jah Waggys, Blakamix......

Ive ordered from Dub Vendor and Jah Waggy's quite a lot tbh, I'll check out the other two….. I use honest johns, and scotch bonnet (they sell all sorts of records as well as their own releases too).

its that stepper sound that I really like.

    Dubkasm - Trasnformed in Dub.

There's a few corkers on that! And some of their tunes remind me a lot of ska invita 's style.

Have any of you ever made your own dub siren/Shaka box?

  21. ringo

    ringo Macaroni cheese controller

I built a basic kit many years ago but it was quite flimsy. I've had a Jah Tubbys siren for 10 or 15 years and a sampler with effects loaded onto the presets, running through a Roland Space Echo.

Sounds pricey…… I've got a friend who loves all that kind of circuit bending/building stuff down in brighton, and was thinking about asking him…. its predominantly a dub siren I'm interested in.

I've got dubsiren on the iPad, but its just not the same

and as Dub Dynasty (w son Alpha Stepper)

excuse to post this amazing clip = Dub Dynasty track dropping in South Africa
