Reasons not to live in the unlikely parts of London

I like Edmonton. The shopping centre is rather run down but the £1 shops are good. Once you move to somewhere without them, you miss them...

If you are skint, it's probably the best place to shop in London. Yes, it looks grim, but it has everything. I cycle there from Tottenham, it's cycle path pretty much 90% of the way. The indoor market is excellent, great selection of cheap fruit and veg and also ethnic food supermarkets.

Re. Edmonton smelling, according to our local paper, its the recycling plant, you can see it if you drive on the North Circular past Edmonton Ikea. Having travelled right past it, I agree. It stinks lots.

It'd be quite cool to able say that somewhere literally stinks
As I haved sniffed the offending Ronk Du Edmonton myself, I do not feel it wopuld be honest for me to pass the observatuion on with the first hand convictiobn it deserves, eg " What a fucking hole, the fuckin place REALLY stinks guy!!!"

Edited to add; East Ham has got to be shit-pit No 1 in my book, with Thamesmead kissing its arse when it slows for corners

Canvey Island smells funny when the wind carries over the combined pong of the Corringham oil refinery and landfill site.

Harsh way with words!

Thamesmead is shocking. Plumstead too. Woolwich I think has been mentioned.

I would add also add Welling to the mix. Its like the millennium never happened

Don't get carried away. Let's take a decade at a time;)

Woolwich is a fuuny place. It is a proper town and could be a great place, but it seems to be full of people who are still catching up evolving to homo sapiens and need a bit more time to get there.

Trouble is, the laggard members of an old species don't evolve into the new one.

We can only wait, patiently, for them to die out :(
