REALLY obscure bands

For a really obscure band with a truly disastrous name you can't get any better than a South Devon heavy metal four-pice going under the monicker:

'RECTAL HAEMORRAGE'.

Not likely to feature on 'Top Of The Pops' any time soon, methinks.

(I could post a picture if such a haemorrage if I find one. Any takers?).

You Slosh! recorders of Glorious Racket
Little Chief - of Loosen Up fame

couple of Leeds bands (although YS! may have actually been from York) mixed up a bit of ska and folk and general hippiness.

As far as school groups went a few mates formed 'Kryptic Hippies'.
But for obscure I remember John Peel playing 'Anal Beard' and 'Mustard Masturbation', the former having drippy Richie Neville from Five as a 'member'.

-It's true! Children Of The Bong were originally asked to perform on top of the palace, but that was before poodle-haired Brian May pulled rank on 'em. :(

-Honest. :D

I did a couple of songs with them back in the day :)

I do believe an ex KOTOT is now an Occassional Urbanite :D

Anyway...they are hardly obscure. Molara (Zion Train) used to sing with them and they put out at least 3 records that i know about...

My TSS hailed from Exeter and lasted about fifteen seconds. They were great, and being a band, failed to split up until I'd secured them ecstatic live reviews in both NME and the Maker. That nice young Paul Moody helped there.

TSS weren't the first by that name, they just thought they were. It's academic anyway, the only release they made was on the prisoner flexi, which featured a few other actsm including Judda, Anorak Lovechild and The Rays.

Toxics were a good riot girl-induced slice of temporary freshness. One of them went on to play guitar in a few bands, but in case she's ashamed of her past, I'd best not name them.

from mystery guest

I met Glen Wallis of Konstruktivists a couple of times back in 1993/94. Before then he'd asked me to play viola on one of his new tracks; I sorted out something but for whatever reason it never quite happened.

weird!! think the other guy in konstruktivists joined the band i used to be in!

but don't get me started on obscure bands. i've got a trunk back at my old dear's full of cassette tapes by bands (some great - some awful) who probably never even released a record. sure anyone else involved in the 'zine scene back in the early eighties would have the same.

most of whom certainly beats the fuck out of half the bacnd gracing the cover of the NME these days!
