I second this. A bit small, but good if you get there before 5pm.

along with the jon snow and the fitzrovia... another samuel smiths pub worth checking out is 'the angel' which is down denmark street, then turn right (i cant remember the name of the road....

also

the phoenix theatre arts bar, which is th bar underneath the phoenix theatre on charing cross road is rather good, the normal (expensive) price for central london £3.10 for a pint but you might end up stalking a minor celebrity....

The best Sam Smith pub is the Princess Louise, on the New Oxford St side of Holborn Tube station. Off the beaten track - and again, for Sam Smith fans only - is The Cardinal, near Victoria Station.

It's the most spectacularly ornate Sam Smith's pub, that's for sure. Last time I was in there, though, it was absolutely filthy - literally grime everywhere, and the (again spectacular) gents toilets absoultely stank to high heaven. You could smell them throughout the pub, which is going some considering they're in the basement. Staff were arrogant wankers too.

I have heard it's due to be restored and cleaned up, which is not before time as parts of the ceiling etc are getting dangerously neglected.

Much as I like Sam Smith's for their preservation of great pubs, their beer is by in large crap. Keg bitter? Rubbish.

I was in there last the week before Christmas and didn't notice any of that. There was a nice fire on the go, so maybe that blotted out the stench.

Wouldn't know about the bitter though, I only touch the cider - passable, in the scheme of things. :)

I used to work around the corner from the Princess Louise and yes, sometimes the toilets did stink! But, on most days it was very pleasant!

"Brady's Spanish Bar" near Tottenham Court Road tube. In that tiny little side street that runs behind Virgin records (Hanway St?). Small old boozer with funky decor and an old skool duke box. Small but fun.
