Great argument.
Its the truth.
If it was football it would be a reasonably fair system by which any team gets the chance to advance on its own merits (like the old European Cup); the Champions League however is a business, which needs to have its "big clubs" involved in order to make money. This is why the ECWC and old EC died - the ECWC because the competition didnt feature enough big clubs, the EC because it had an annoying habit of allowing "small" teams to win it.

So when Everton play in the EPL which is dominated by economics and business interests is that not football? What about when they face a small club like Oldham in the FA Cup, is that not football because one side has much greater resources and obviously would never get beaten a home...

The EPL is corrupt, and while we are doing well at the moment that is sort of an abberation, and tbh I would much rather we went back to the old system. As for the FA Cup, that is what I am on about - one team having its chance to win a game irrespective of the size / wealth difference; that would have happened in the ECWC and the EC as well. It does not happen in the CL, hence my point.
