A bit long but well worth the effort. Is this really democracy?

Chakrabarti, who once worked as a lawyer in the Home Office, explains: "If you throw live frogs into a pan of boiling water, they will sensibly jump out and save themselves. If you put them in a pan of cold water and gently apply heat until the water boils they will lie in the pan and boil to death. It's like that."

Perhaps he should check his sources... This isn't actually true...

"The legend is entirely incorrect! The `critical thermal maxima' of many species of frogs have been determined by several investigators. In this procedure, the water in which a frog is submerged is heated gradually at about 2 degrees Fahrenheit per minute. As the temperature of the water is gradually increased, the frog will eventually become more and more active in attempts to escape the heated water. If the container size and opening allow the frog to jump out, it will do so."

"My theory is that the Blairites are Marxist in process, though not in ideology - well, actually it is more Leninist." It is true that several senior ministers had socialist periods. Charles Clarke, John Reid, recently anointed Home Secretary, and Jack Straw, the former foreign secretary, were all on the extreme left, if not self-declared Leninists

Oh dear, the lefties and commies on here will be running to the voting booths.

Whats the big suprise though?
The biggest beaurocratic system the UK gov has ever had. Free-speech control areas. National ID Cards. Treating the population as if they are all selfish children. Constant change of civil service policy and methods.

I would go futher and call them 'trots' but socialist and communist intersect at many points, plus the New Labour history and training is found at the BAP .

British American Project

John Pilger, who has been uncovering American manipulation of other countries' politics for decades, has described BAP as a "casual freemasonry" and "by far the most influential transatlantic network of politicians, journalists and academics"

And with regard to the press being in the pocket of New Labour;
a number of influential journalists in the BBC and the press belong, like those Cabinet members of the Blair Government already mentioned, to the 'Successor Generation' network

communists inside new labour

list of advisors of BAP , including Wolfowitz plus fellows Jonathan Powell, Paxman, Chris Smith,

Of all the things to pick up on in that article...

If a journalist can't recognise incorrect basic facts then I start to doubt the rest of the articles accuracy...!

Although he makes a valid general argument, he is a little prone to exaggeration and chosing the emotive / extreme example and portraying it as the norm.

The fact that government is increasingly treating Parliament with disdain is due to MPs failing to stand up to it.

The fact that the government is increasingly treating the people with contempt is that the people increasingly fail to engage with politics and politica issues. We will get the goovernment we deserve.

Demonstration and articles like Mr Porter's may have some short-term effect but the only long-term answer is for people to engage by voting - it doesn't matter who for - just Vote!

"Mate, you know your horse is gay. I hope you don't have a problem with that." He was given one of the new, on-the-spot fines - £80 - which he refused to pay, with the result that he was taken to court. Some 10 months later the Crown Prosecution Service dropped its case that he had made homophobic remarks likely to cause disorder.

Ho ho ho...didn't we recently have a thread about how Moyle's using the word 'gay' was offensive and promulgating homophobic attitudes? And IIRC the board consensus was that Moyles was wrong - Moyles was fined £5000, so why shouldn't this chap be fined £80 for the same thing?

And this bloke uses the dreaded 'politically correct' term...and interesting to note that he had to get a a proper old skool Tory (Charles Moore) to come up with the comment about Labour being Marxists in process but not ideology...not normally someone whom U75 posters would accept that kind of comment from...

Good article but there are a number of easily pick-able holes in it...

A good read indeed that article. In fact I might go down to parliament square on sunday and read it again.
