No argument that it's an excellent episode and really powerful and harrowing, but overall quality of Six Feet Under, suffered, with meandering plots, that were often repetitious. And Nate's wife disappearance was just a Deus Ex to get rid of an annoying plot line, and reintroduce Brenda, which was all bizarrely tied up by the brother in law's confession/suicide which was something out of a bad soap opera.

It's not perfect, but overall I think it's worthy of quality comparison. I admit series 4 was a bit weak.

In threads dedicated to that particular subject?

That's what you're doing right, complaining about people posting too much about The Wire in threads about The Wire?

No! In general, I didn't specify a thread or anything. I just meant the general view of a thing being the second coming.
But I've only ever seen people talk about The Wire in threads about The Wire - unlike, say, 6FU in this thread. It absolutely isn't all over the board or indeed in any other forum.

So, the point stands; you're complaining about people talking about The Wire in threads dedicated to The Wire, most esp. that they talk "obsessively" and that puts you off.

Out of interest, when you walk out of a room, do you sometimes sense an aroma of 'WTF: Weird Cunt' following in your wake?

A rhetorical question, a suggestion and an advisement: Why should I or anyone give a fuck about you trying to impose yourself on what is posted about The Wire. Don't read threads about The Wire, and from the "Did I fuck your sister" stuff in previous threads to here is quite enough, I don't come onto Urban for this; be advised you're on ignore, Mr Stranger Than Custard.

Don't get me wrong, it's in my top ten, but nothing compares to the wire in IMO.

Very true...6FU really suffered when Brenda sort of disappeared for a while after the whole Billy stuff. The first series is still sublime...mainly for Billy :D

The Wire is much better at having story arcs and giving them time to develop. My only fear is the final season might try and wrap a few too many things up. For example <snippety snip>

It suffered from reptition alot too. Oh look Claire is feeling conflicted about art again. Oh wait Nate isn't single but Brenda is, or they other way around. David and his boyfriend are shagging other people or they're not. Claire's mum is repressed and trying to explore her new life again.

The Wire is much better at having story arcs and giving them time to develop. My only fear is the final season might try and wrap a few too many things up. For example, while I can see why they killed off X when they did but on first viewing his downfall seemed a little too rushed.

X's fall started when he did what he did to Y in season two. It took fourteen episodes for him to feel that crunch.

My all time favorite wire scene is F twisting the knife into N's X which sets the chain in motion in season three. It's so cruel, so vicious and brilliant.

I think Bodies death was most affecting meself - more so than Wallace' in the first one...Bodie developed his own brand of street wisdom, and had a code of his own...

Was this London Calling always like this or did The Wire do it to him? Maybe I better not watch it after all...

AAAAHHHHHHHHHH. THOSE NOT FINISHED SEASON 3 AND 4, DON'T READ THE ABOVE 5 POSTS.

I knew one of those things, but not the other. Thanks a lot guys :( Edit please?

He was always like this, but don't let that put you off the show.

:D My first ignoring!

a) I just might encounter people banging on about The Wire in real life, you know. Try getting out of the house every now and then. There's people out there too.

b) No, I don't encounter an 'aroma of WTF: Weird cunt' when I leave a room and am not enitely sure what you're trying to say. That people think I'm weird? No, I really don't. I'm not weird.

c) I haven't tried to impose myself, I just suggested another series to fans of The Wire.

d) As I recall, you chose to barge onto my thread about Martin Allen being fired (which was entirely true) and mouthed off at me. I believe you called me a twat, a liar, and worse. I then wondered why you were so offensive towards and supposed that maybe I once fucked your sister or something. You then got jealous at the very thought.

You are the strange one, my sadsack friend. You are the strange one.

And with that I bid you adieu!

Apols was too busy trying to illustrate point to think peeps would have got to that point :o   - at self

Sorry, no one put a 'no spoilers' notice on this, otherwise I'd have posted in white...besids, it's only a fucking TV show, wind your necks in...

And it's not keyser_soze...not too hard since it's actually there on a screen in front of people...

Fuck off, you don't need a "no spoilers" notice to have the common sense not to spoil one of the major fucking plot points in a series that's not yet been on UK telly or even out on DVD yet, while in a thread full of people who love and are excited about seeing it.

And wind your own neck in about a misplaced e, FFS.

It's not really for you to decide whether it's a major plot point for other people though, is it?

I tend to assume that threads on this forum which don't have massive spoiler warnings in the title are spoiler-free. Otherwise I wouldn't read them. This is the second time I've had a death spoiler for The Wire, and whilst I appreciate that it's not the end of the world, knowing the first one did overshadow all my viewing of S3 because I was constantly waiting for it to happen and wondering how/where/why it would.

Just a bit of explanation about why people are upset :)

You've been called out on being careless and now you're compacting it by acting like a cunt. Do give it a rest.

You're becoming quite the curmudgeon, Alex B. It comes across as very superior. Something of a complex?
