Raw onions in salad and sandwiches: why?

raw onions are nice in lots of things especially shallots and red onions and with a nice shish kebab theyre essential but i dont like having them in a sandwich if im not expecting it and think that sandwiches with onions should be clearly marked as such

well some journalists anyway, apparently they smell of garlic and some with wild imaginations have summoned images of middleaged moustachied frenchmen with beret basque and strings of onions over their neck travelling on bicycles they spent too much time in the pub, I reckon, and were having visions.

well then say to the kebab shop bloke that you dont want too much onion and would prefer more of some of his other excellent salad constituents

"no onions tar mate" should do the job, write it on yr hand next time you go for a kebab then you wont forget it

Our local kebab shop does onion, tomato, shredded lettuce, cabbage and carrot.

Y'know if this journalist could figure out how to host photos (I still haven't rtfm ) I could post a vision of a middleaged frenchman with beret basque travelling on a bicycle [sans moustache and onions], it was a photo I took on my travels, in a small town called Saint Amand Montrond if I recall correctly, he was like a walking, er, sorry, cycling stereotype!
