I really like the platinum one, I think it will suit you. However, this thread has reminded me that my mum gave me her eternity ring and I haven't a fucking clue where it is! :(

Madz! You'd better find it, or you'll be toast.

I think it'll suit me too, of course it'll look different a) IRL and b) when it's on... jewellers do tend to make their rings look at sparkly as possible on their websites..

Your rock is nice, you can tell it's old, which makes it less bling. Are you not going to wear it with your wedding ring then?
Probably not... will keep it for special occasions. I think I'd rather have a broader wedding ring that works on its own, as I could only wear a very plain, fine one with the engagement.

can't say anything good bling rock bought by blood to enchance the status of the wearer. Why not go the whoe hog and have a fur coat too, an elephant umbrella stand and tiger skin rugs too .... real classy... cira 1890...

would you never wear a diamond, zenie?

I certainly have done in the past :)

I'm not sure whether I ever would again

a) Because of the whole Sierra Leone scandal
b) Cos I have a habit of losing jewellery (I lost the diamond eternity ring I had and the saphire and diamond ring that my Dad gave to my Mum years ago)

I'mnot preaching I'm just showing people that on one hand yeh they re beautiful, but there's misery behind it :(

Bit like fur coats innit?

I think they feel beautiful but you wouldn't catch me wearing one!

This is me being very practical. If the diamonds go all the way around the ring then they will hold a lot of gunk from general life. Also, you'll be paying for gemstones that won't be seen.

But it is a lovely ring.:)

To be fair, DeBeers have recently signed up to suport the Kimberley Process, which certifies diamonds as 'conflict-free', but they still use child labour in some of their processes, and land from which people have been removed to make way for mines.

Then they should be applauded and encouraged and have some business for making some changes towards a more ethically responsible business model, not continuously knocked. It's a bit like dogs and horses and small children, you have to reward them for good behaviour to encourage it. Constantly telling them they are wrong will give no encouragement to improve further.

My husband, when he saw it said "That's got to be four grand..."

His jaw fell open when I told him it was £2,400 for platinum, £2,200 for gold.

1.28 carats.

My engagement ring was more than that, for less carat (although it does have sapphires too, tbf).
