Radiohead to play Victoria Park!

As much as it's killing me to do it, I'm going to hold out in the hope I'll be able to see them in a more intimate venue another time. I can't justify spending £50 to stare at peoples backs for the whole gig, getting more and more frustrated that people dare talk over the top of the music.

Woooooo, if looks like I might be able to get my free tickets :D :D

One for me nad for a guest, gotta wait to two days before hand before I know for sure :(

Yup, they have just announced five dates at 100 Club, Oxford Street, London

:)

That'd be fantastic.
My dad some them in a couple of fairly low key venues around Pablo Honey/The Bends. Unfortunately, he turned his back on them the minute they released Kid A and refuses to even listen to the new stuff. It scares him cos it's different and he's old.

Never been to 100 Club, what's it like? Maybe I spoke too soon :D Know when those tickets go on sale?

They won't ever play the 100 Club. Christonabike was joking. It's a very little place.

They will. Jim Bob is playing there next year for example.

:p

Yeah! Got tickets for Tues vicky park

Although the early release panic buying has caused all sorts of organisational calamities*. My non-Glasto going mate bought us some tickets this morning for the Weds, when I intend to be in Pilton. I bought my GF a ticket, but she doesn't want to go due to proximity to Glasto. So my mate is stuck with 2 spare for weds and me currently going on my todd on the Tuesday.....I'm sure it won't be hard to find someone to go with though.

*because I will get Glastonbury tickets

There are a few acts I'd pay that kind of money to see - legends, people likely to be dead soon, rare performances by fantastic artists (Tom Waits, for example). Radiohead don't qualify and £42 seems bloody rude

Strong (and apparantly well sourced) recent rumour on efestivals to that effect. [that Radiohead will now NOT be doing Glastonbury]

But firky might have something else to say from the fan network

On reflection/reconsideration I tend to share your scepticism about the 'Radiohead not doing Glastonbury' idea, the signs seem to point in a Glasto-positive direction certainly ...

Firky, any word on this?? :)

Radiohead performances are pretty rare. And i know they aren't to everyone's tastes, but pretty much every "top 100 albums of all time" placing OK Computer in the top 5 probably qualifies them as "fantastic" as well.

Stop it, you'll make me go back on agreeing not to go.

from that piece:

On hearing of Radiohead's removal of the major labels from their particular food chain I was full of admiration and respect. It was only when rumours started to fly that a normal CD edition of the record would be available in the new year on their regular label Parlophone that I began to worry. Since this is just a rumour I can only say that if they are indeed going to release the record as normal after having their biggest and most loyal fans into buying a CD and vinyl box set at four times the normal price in time for Christmas and having pocketed fortunes by getting people to pay for low quality mp3s in advance then they should hang their heads in shame.

yes :) (although it's not going to be Parlophone)

wtf! its sold out. is this right? i found another site selling for 70 squids a ticket. not happy, already missed zep cos of these prices!

I got an email from gigsandtours.com (seetickets) saying that they would be selling them at 9am Friday. I expect they'll have a fair allocation, so all is not lost.

3 tickets bought for the Friday night gig on Glasgow Green

£130 though, 'kin hell!

Any other band but Radiohead, and I'd have left it (with the exception of the floyd)....

I agree the prices are insane, but I'd still be tempted by the Tuesday Victoria Park show if I could go. But I'll be heading for Pilton already by then.

Firky, I await the fanboyz word on whether they show up on Mr Eavis's land on Saturday 28th June.
