I remember there being a really good LTJ Bukem essential mix from about 1996. And a drum and bass one by A Guy called Gerald. And a techno one by Stacey Pullen from aroung that time I think. Still got them on battered old C90 tapes somewhere!
Brilliant - loved this mix, seriously hedonistic and sexy stuff.
Just downloaded the Basement Jax 1997 set, not sure how that can match up to the 2001 set.
Impressed too with Andrew Weatherall's 1993 mix - varies from ambient and progresses to acid - theres a great bit where Sabre's classic 'Smokebelch' is graually overtaken by Platiskman's 'Spastik' and acts as the point when the set gets more uptempo.
Well I'm still having fun with this link - been said before but THANKS again for Killer B for starting this thread.
There's some good mixes to be had from the EM, but not much techno - tends not to get to well represented and tends to be the same old, same old, same old, same old, same old, repetitive crap i.e. Dave Clarke and friends. - There's been better stuff on the Breezeblock and some of the old John Peel Maida Vale sessions - but they tend not to be that well recorded or shared on the internet and also a lot shorter.
EM, generally means crap commercial trance, with the odd gem here and there. Sorry if you like that sort of thing, no accounting for taste is there?
Up to about 11:15 Happy Clappers "I Believe" (Shindig)
11:20-ish Royal Opera House "Clog Dance" (don't know which version or label) plus the acca from Pulp Fiction
fades back into "I Believe" around 11:40 and that acca at around 12:10 (and another loop of this - didn't particularly enjoy the start of this mix).
12:40 Ruffneck "Everybody be Somebody" (Positiva) (Original Mix) (before fading back to the previous) - through to around 16:00-ish..... the funky bassline is about the first 60 - 120 seconds.
Just to bump up this thread to keep it alive - still having endless fun with it!
The Leftfield set from 2000 is a blinding set (seamless and very varied mix) -this is the Mindscapes 16/04/2000 set.
From same year there is another Leftfield sessions (27/05/2000 session), but this just their own stuff from Rhythm and Stealth and Leftism... still worth a listen though.
