Uhuh. There was ongoing banter that I took part in. If you don't like it you don't need to partake. Gratuitous insults are not banter, btw.levien said:No I understad you are trying to be funny. Its the way you are trying to be funny that suggests you are a prat.

Is Islam beyond questioning? I had no idea. I didn't get that central committee bulletin.levien said:pilchy - Anti-Muslim rubish (even dressed up as radical anarchism) isn't any funnier then the kids in the school next door calling each other gay and about as clever.
Pas du tout. De omnibus dubitandum, after all. I just wondered whether a propitious and multifaceted debate was either the likely result or the likely intention in this instance.pilchardman said:You have a problem with various strands of Islam being questioned

As an atheist, a rationalist, and a democrat I'll ask questions about whatever I like, thanks. Especially when the groups I'm asking questions of are keen to put out their views for all to see. It cuts both ways.
Where has anybody here expressed any specifically anti-Muslim sentiments (as opposed to generally anti-religious)?levien said:Sorry (I'm really bored) - decided to explain to pilchard here why his comments on this thread paint him as a bit of a prat.

levien said:On an interesting aside HT don't believe its unIslamic to vote per se just that you could theoretically only vote for someone who would represent your veiws and beliefs 100%. A sort of Islamic version of the "pure socialism" preached on here by certain sects. HT also belive that only their version of Islam is he correct interpretation of the holy texts (cough) Workers Power.
That's not the point, mate. Life of Brian is funny, but Satanic Verses is Islamophobia. In Bloom said:Where has anybody here expressed any specifically anti-Muslim sentiments (as opposed to generally anti-religious)?

Let freedom ring2wheeledathiest said:Sorry, coming in a bit late here. This is the basis of Wahabist thought, it is all to do with the `purity' of those involved. And thus the persecution of those deemed unpure. It led to bloodletting between the followers of Mohammed. It has been kept alive by followers in places such as Saudi Arabia and led to the development of Al-Quaieda as its terror franchise. Any democratic pretentions are only allowed if such a movement can benefit in terms of its dominance and self awarded liscence to persecute others. An Inqusition if you like.
