This has all gone about as badly as it possibly could. The publicity, the fuss, the "anti freedom of speech louts trying to silence debate".
Added to that the Tories put up a posh asian woman against him. The ideal Tory as far as Griffin is concerned i would have thought.....All of those soft racists wavering between the Tories and BNP might just be pushed a little further to the BNP tonight.
Well if he hadn't made it into the building, both sides (the demonstrators and the BNP) would have considered it a victory.

I'm all in favour of the BNP having as much live coverage as possible.
They are masters at the art of foot ingestion at the best of times, and I think they deserve every opportunity we can give them to allow themselves to show themselves up as illiberal, racist, totalitarian bastards.

I think its a really sad day for all anti fascists......Those who have spent years giving them free publicity and those of us who have physically fought with them.
Nick griffin has a historic opportunity to reach out to millions of people tonight....he will attempt to show that the BNP are the only party not to abandon the white working class and there support will grow because of it.....
And so what if they show they are Illiberal or Racist or Totalitarian......Last i heard they werent really targeting Guardian readers as potential supporters.....

he looked very nervous indeed, and some member sof the audience landed punches, if not literally, but other people not BEM's, not the left , liberals, the respectable working class, etc, will be watching possibly for the first time tonight and may come away with a different perspective.
I thought he did quite well. And it really doesnt matter if Liberal lefties thought he looked like an idiot......They are not his target audience....
