Qualifications on CV- what order?

Many thanks for all the replies.

My final question is, since I've just graduated as a mature student, and have been in education for the last 6 years (2 years doing 3 A-levels, 4 years doing a degree), would it be better to list my education history first, as opposed to employment history? Otherwise, at first glance it simply looks like I've been out of work for a long time.

Cheers.

I was just wondering in what order I should list my qualifications on my CV. I was thinking of listing the details of my degree first, then A-levels, then GCSEs, then 'others' (like Pitmans Typing, ECDL etc).

The thing is, the list as a whole won't be in chronological order as I've done various A-levels and GCSEs at different times. Of course, if I categorize by qualification then those qualifications will be listed in chronological order with the latest first. Does that make sense (I haven't had enough caffeine yet!)?

Thanks for any advice.

generally i seperate them into academic (uni, school) and professional (oracle, java certs) but always put them chronologically with most recent first

Does anyone think it is beneficial to include unskilled part-time work (from studenthood) if it shows that you have a good track record of holding down work, good attendance, that sort of thing?

Also is there any way I could making wasting hours of my life on U75 sound like a constructive hobby? :D

Will the job involve cycling and being proficient at it :p
Perhaps not. But no job I've had since 1984 involves mining, but I'm not going to miss out my degree, am I? Cycling proficiency shows I have good co-ordination, an awareness of safety issues and common sense. A must in most jobs, surely? :)

btw, does anyone know of any good cv creating websites.
i'm applying for jobs at the mo and have no idea how a good one should look / how you can exaggerate etc...
-> all advice appreciated!
:)

If you are forced to use a cycling proficiency certificate to show those things, I'd be worried :p

Degrees test far more than knowledge of an activity... thus holding some kind of validity for life...

But they don't test co-ordination, an awareness of safety issues and common sense. Do they? Or indeed the ability to survive in a hostile environment. (Actually, mine did. But for most......)

All you need for eduction (delete/amend as appropriate)

BA (Hons) History - 2:2 (X Uni)
3 A Levels - English, Maths, etc
7 GCSE's grade C and above - including maths and english

CVs are just for getting the basics across - if they are interested they will ask in the interview.

but what if u have more than one degree from uni and a Baccalaureat degree that doesn't feature math n english?

Common sense is assumed. Co-ordination lost and gained... it's something that varies. I can be really coordinated with my hands but shit with my feet for example.

As for awareness of safety issues - in a workplace scale - that's something you want a Professional Qualification for (if we're talking about awareness in an industrial level such that it is the basis of a job).
