I have yet to meet a pup that is lazy !!!

I am thinking about getting another dog.

I already have a very well loved 18 month old Lab - who is always the center of my attention.

Would getting another dog put her nose out of joint?

They soon get used to it. Meg was the centre of our attention when we got Amber as a pup.

At first it was all snarling and 'get that fucking thing out of my house!'. After a few hours she tolerated her and after a few days she'd quite taken a shine to her and would play with her for hours.

After a few weeks strangers went near her pup at their peril :D

When I got Noodle, Badger was a bit stroppy and put a few warning snarls across her bows when she hassled him but he was 10 and she was about 18 months. He wanted to sleep all day like usual and she wanted to play. He's still a bit grumpy with her at times when he wants to be left in peace but it's all worked out just fine :)

I'm really sorry to just be another 'I want one but I can't' but I have to say...I want one but I can't :D

Good luck. They look like win :)

I'm so struck by how much these pups look like my much-loved dog. As the mrs has explained, she was a pedigree Hackney mongrel, a Wolfhound/Lurcher cross on her dad's side, and every other breed in Hackney on the other. She was around for 14 years, and had 10 pups (though one died on the first night). The pups all went to homes, from my base at the time in London Fields, Hackney. One pup had to go to a dog rescue service, as I lost my job, my girl at the time and my home, all inside a week. I was gonna keep that one. The others got housed to people across Hackney/Stokey/Bethnall Green. I think this would have been 14-16 years ago, but it's hard to tell for sure now, as I have become senile. My dog had two brothers, who were a little wild and took after her dad dog. I'm so convinced these pups could be related, as there's so many connections. My dog was a splendid animal - obedient, friendly, protective, good-natured and quite loving - I recall her lying beside me licking my hand when I was ill, for example. Great dog, much-loved by me, my other half and our family and friends - was heartbroken when she died. Still miss her now.

Hi Rocketman, pleased to meet you. Thank you for telling me the story i too am sure that there is a blood connection. Dolly (the mother) was born near to Victoria Park and her father would be approx 14 or 15 now, and still going strong when i last heard :)

Would you consider taking one of these pups on? It is very difficult to find prospective owners that are trustworthy. I have been inundated with replies from another place where i advertised them but am so worried they will be taken and sold on or even used as bait for dog fighting :(

My only other alternaitive is Battersea or similar but i would really prefer not to put the poor pups through the trauma of it if i can possible help it.

Hi PirateTV - likewise on the nice to meet you thing. Our immediate problem is that we just don't have time to sort this out during the next two weeks - we're travelling round the country, and want to give any new family member a decent stable start, which we can't do immediately.

In my dreams, I'd be favouring the female runt. I'm a fan of female dogs as they are less territorial and less stubborn, easier to train; I like runts as they tend to develop smarter.

We've been talking about this ever since we found out about your pups. We are tempted, but I guess would need to meet them, which again is something we can't do in the next days.

How many of the little creatures do you have left?

I hate the idea of them going to evil people, or being sent to Battersea.

We're tempted.
