Punk Rocker in Techno Shocker

I know acid techno supposedly comes from punk but I find that very strange as I love techno but always hated punk music - I can't see much of a likeness myself or is the connection because many of the originators of acid techno were previously into punk?

don't think anyone said acid techno COMES from punk. just that there's a crossover in audience / creators. and anyway, not punk in the proper sense, but as already mentioned, the late 80s squat / anarcho / crusty scene

I would have thought the acid techno scene and hardcore punk would be considered non sexist so don't really understand the 'machismo' arguement.........neither do I accept that both types are 'non musical'..

Harder! Faster!

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply the scenes were sexist, just that they have a sound in common that's coded as masculine, what Blagsta says basically. By 'musicality' I mean, delicacy or overt emotional stuff - as opposed to the three-chord attitude, functional and immediate music. (also, these aren't supposed to be value judgements)

just to clarify, thats anarcho as in short for 'anarcho punk' - anarchist are not responsible for acid techno. Nor anarcho punk either really :D
