Punk Rock - overrated nonsense!!

i really can't be arsed to read through this thread, but punk is obviously outstanding. Lots of great bands spanning 3 different decades and it seems like its just about to all pick up again after not a lot of bands being about for a couple of years(all the decent english ones quit :( )

For me the word punk doesnt mean a Sex Pistols-style "fuck you" attitude, it means having an "I'm going to do whatever I want and Fuck You if you don't like it" attitude. So anything remotely different from the norm can come under the name Punk. :o

Golden Brown by the Stranglers was in 6/8 with an oddball added bar of 7/8 (effectively producing a 13/8 time signature).

Can someone explain the definitions of 4/4, 6/8 etc. to someone with no musical training? Does 2/4 exist and what would it sound like?

Sorry but without wading through several pages of peoples opinions , has anyone else seen Don Letts " Punk Attitude " ? one of my better Christmas presents ! lots of original footage from those you would expect but also " extras " lasting an hour and a half with talking heads from both the US and Uk . the differences of opinion are as you would expect but perhaps more intersesting coming from the mouths of the people themselves .
Listening to Henry Rollins describing the growth of punk music and its influence on him was one of the high points , I didnt have him down as such an interesting guy.

go buy it with your record vouchers , great for extending the various Punk arguements that are always on Urban75 !!!
