Without exception, Public Enemy are my all time favourite group ever. That goes for eveything from Public Enemy No. 1 (my best tune of all time) to Fight The Power.

edited for drunken hyperbole

Public enemy are one of those bands i have a hell of a lot respect for but wont listen to.

I can't really be arsed with the newer stuff and don't think the likes of it takes a nation have dated paticularly well, they just sound really really old and the production is dated as are the beats and beacuse they have a hevey sound it just doesn't really work anymore. Same way i feel about the clash really.

Reading chuck d's book fight the power at the moment. The man chats a hell of a lot of shite(mainly his views on nation of islam and some of his race stuff) but has a hell of a lot more that is worth listning to.(industry stuff & social stuff)

To be honest I think modern Alternative acts have far more talent as a whole, or even Old School guys who've come back for a second try.

"Modern alternative" hip hop wouldn't sound the way it does without the Bomb Squad's blueprint. Fact.

Am I right to think Chuck D now presents a show where, similar to Rock School or whatever the hell it is called, a posh white college student learns to become a rapper?

If so, I think this goes against PE stood for.

I'm indifferent to Fight The Power although I love other stuff of theirs.

Nation of Millions and Fear of a Black Planet are two of the greatest albums ever made.

Agreed - Yo! is a good album but doesn't really have that whole wall of noize that these both have.

Chuck D is a college educated, not poor, Long Islander.
